I've had the same bars on mine since 2004 and I can't say I've ever smacked my legs on them, I have long enough legs as well!! Haha.bowber wrote:
Only one problem with that Bondy, it's got them great big orange bars on the side, I friggin hate them! Smack my legs on them off road and on road and they seem to do more damage than they save in a reasonable speed crash, good if you just fall over slowly though. One lad I saw had his wiring under the headlight damaged by his when he fell off, took him ages to take them off and finally get to the broken plug to sort it and he still had scratches on his tanks.

i don't know if the 990 is different to the 950 but I can get to behind my headlight by undoing 6 bolts, could probably do it undoing 4 but it's the same sized Allen key so takes no time.

I've not had my 950 apart in years so not certain but I thought I could get access to the oil pressure switch after removing the tank, not easily but doable. I stand to be corrected on that though since it has been a while.Beepee wrote:I bought a brand new one in 2014, best thing I ever did.
ABS brakes are shit though and my oil pressure switched failed last year at 12000 miles. £406 or so to replace it !
Thought I'd fit the Rottweiler kit while I had it stripped down to replace the £6 switch, now that kit is what seriously wakes the beast up !!!

Spot on 990s are great fun a big smile on every journey and then curse as you have to spend two hours changing the oil every 4k and fill two fuel tanks every 150 miles.
.....mine's for sale....but I don't want it to sell.
