Last time I bought a new bike, 2004, the dealer gave me a list of plates that they had been allocated, & I chose the one that ended WSN because I am a Wilson.

Would not pay for a 'cherished' one though.

Was offered that with my last couple of cars but seemed such a vague connection ('look, that one has a letter the same as one in your name!') that I didn't bother.

I can see why some may want to 'hide' the age of their vehicle (at least to most people who can't spot model changes) but depends to a degree on how much you want to be defined by what you drive/own and others perception of you because of it. I guess there are a fair few of us hence why BMW sell so many cars and why cruisers exist

You sure that's the correct number as they didn't use the letter I in that type of registration numbers?

My wife has R***EFC because she's an Everton supporter and the first thing she had it on was her R1 but since then it's gone on cars.

Free of charge after a friend bought a bike with that number and the day he collected the bike he phoned and said she could have it.

No but years ago I bought a mini for £150(it was a long time ago) with a years mot, after the year of use sold the plate just before mot ran out for £450. It was LOU 444F. Should have kept the car it was an 850 mk1 with the outside hinges.

Did I pass you on the A12 just outside of Ipswich yesterday? (Thursday the 7th of August) I was heading down to London on my Tiger 800XC and passed a Smart car with a BIG **** registration at around 11:30am.
