Are Klim the new twat suit?

I bought a Klim Latitude jacket last winter and cocked up really because I didn't check the sizing so it's two sizes too big rather than one but it fitted over both a heated jacket and a lightweight down jacket then breathed so well that even the down jacket had no signs of damp after a 10 hour ride.

I'll probably sell it and buy one a size smaller but as a jacket for serious winter use I thought it was excellent. Even when it was quite a bit below 0c in Germany & Austria my heated jacket kept switching itself off when I had it on anything but the maximum setting and I didn't get cold at any point throughout the trip.

It's not a recognizable brand here in Ireland. I actually got wind of it on advrider.com as a brand and looking at lads and ladies that are using it long term decided to go for it. There's no dealer here in Ireland and the change from euro to sterling was no doable so I bought it in from the USA.

I got the Enduro Traverse Gortex jacket and pants. Didn't bother with the armour as I wear a full enduro armour vest and knee brace at all times so it just sits over them. I have been caught in very heavy rain and nothing has gotten through it. I got the traverse for less then the price of a Richa suit. I also bought the inferno midlayer jacket and it is the perfect liner jacket. Recommended.

I also bought klim mojavey pants for hot wheater riding and a klim enduro jersey.

The fit of every item is perfect with an easy to read sizing chart that is very accurate

Still haven't seen anyone else wearing Klim here in Ireland. But I would recommend it to everyone looking for bike gear as the best for your money suit on the market and if their catching on in the UK it's for that exact reason

Sadly, in the US the prices are pretty much Pounds for Dollars so they are much cheaper there (I know, I waited till I went there to buy mine). We cannot buy from the US as we have a UK franchise here.
Bloody good kit though. I wash mine in the washing machine and then tumble dry it to re-proof it.

Hmmmm, yes and no.

If you're riding a bike as intended in all weathers, offroad or not then no, if you can afford it then why not.

(not me,I prefer cheap over jacket and trousers on top of lightweight vented kit when it rains, best way to stay dry IMO).

If you're one of the knobs riding around on a new water cooled gs (or similiar) with all the boxes, bells and whistles, immaculately clean and polished, strutting like a peacock then yes, you're a twat and EVERYONE knows it.

i aggree with this ....layers are the key ... for years now ive never taken what you call a motorcycle jacket ...... base layerers ..body armour ..lightweight throwover goretex ....small fleece ...
its no different than removing layers from a jacket but it is so much easier on storage space....heading to hot places with motorcycle jackets is a pain in the ass......i must say the gortex on the outside of the klim suit is its biggest asset ....but its so overpriced...
a pair of rst airtex trousers and some army goretx throwovers are far more flexable ....a base layer that rolls up to the size of a pair of socks is all you need for those pissy days of which there are few ....unless your andy ..im talking hot destinations .... as i dont head for cold ones .....

my main problem with these coats and trousers is that its never going to stay in place as a proper armour suit or knee pads as you have have to allow for arm movement layers undernieth . that apart having removed all the stuff inside ...you sill have to wear the coat no matter how many vents its got somtimes thats not good .......its unlikly you will have enough capacity to take the coat off and store it.. and if you did whats going to protect you ???
just to strip down to good fitting armour can be the difference from sweating your nuts off in 85degree heat or enjoying the ride

i not knocking klim or rukka but i simply dont think it has any advantages riding off road a lot when the temperature is likly to be high ...and certainly if its not going to be under under 6 degrees there is little need for it ??

..unless your going from extream tempertaures on along trip which of course people do ....it simply overkill ....
gping to marroc for three weeks ....its a total pain in the ass..id never take a conventional bike jacket on that trip it simply isnt needed

impact weather and abraision .....ticks the boxes for me

if you need a goretex layer that blocks wind and cold fastens around the neck to the ears ...watertight seal for glove cuffs ...and never lets water in ......26 quid is all you need to spend ..body armour fleece job done

if i thought it would be good for me id just go and get one ..the price is not the issue ..... but i wouldnt swop and i mean that

That's it in a nutshell, baselayer, armour, vented suit, waterproofs.

I don't even use a mc waterproof any more, I've use a goretexalike lightweight cycling jacket because it's got loads of venting as well, keeps me 98% dry.

Having started this thread I thought I would treat my Latitude jacket and give it a wash, is it just me but isn`t it a pain in the arse getting armour out and even worse getting it in (not just Klim found this with all textiles)the elbow armour has various velcro patches to adjust it`s position and they all stick together maybe I need a woman to do it for me :laugh: Oh well at least the jacket is clean and shiny now, the collar was getting a bit grubby
