I've never worn a fully waterproof bike jacket, and that still remains a biking life goal, lol. The jacket I wear to the shops is, or seems to be, fully waterproof, a soft shell coat, but I sweat like hell in it .. so wter inside than out, lol.

Get yourself something goretex (or one of the goretex clones) if you can, Gary.

I was looking for a cheap army used gorex earlier this year. Mostly for use on trails.
I couldn't find one at all that could fit me .. let alone a cheap one.
So i bought two LS2 cheap jackets frm M and P. They are classed as `waterproof` ... but at that price (£50 and £75 ish) I don't believe it for a second.
I'v worn one of them once... it was ok but thin and a bit cold.... anad the other one i've not used even once, but looks a bit thicker/ heavier.

I was/am thinking i'd like to go to France next year,( as i didn't make it there this year, due to finances.) .. and can see that a Good Jacket is going to be like a `safety tent`, to the travelling. But the good gortex ones would be `new` and cost hundreds.
I went out with the swTRF this year .. a good `road ` ride but a bit too much for me tbh, as it was about tight narrow twisty flooded gravelly roads ...... the opposite of my preference, which is flowing A roads. Anyway.. I wore my leathers, thinking that's better in a gravel skid, and a cheap plastic thin overjacket ..... and it worked fine. So I'm thinking I can get away with my cheap LS2 jacket and the same plastic overjacket.

I mean like ... if anyone knows of a new gortex or used jacket in 2xl or xL ? that's good and not too dear ????

Me this year in expensive HG leather jacket (under) with cheap plastic waterproof jacket over .... worked fine.

One of the biggest gamechangers for me has been having a screen.
I had always hated them - no matter how high, I always felt vulnerable in any frontal impact and definitely detested any I had to look through, not over.

The fateful year with my Norden was, amongst more critical matters, fraught with screen height and shape which wasn’t fully resolved when I sold it but, having the Tiger screen on its lowest setting has worked wonders.
No more windblast on my chest, no more cold seeping through zips etc and much more comfort.

The original NC750 screen was a small bikini type thing that didn't do much. I bought a medium size one, but that was even worse, but not as bad as no screen at all, which was horrendous,.This latest screen looks good but doesn't do much and is extrememly noisy. It needs, I think, to be laid more upright?

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned heated gear on numerous occasions.

I found my heated Gerbing gillet keeps my core super warm and cosy, but does not help my hands. So heated gloves were soon added, and again, I probably have already said this before: they are the best thing I have ever bought!

In fact, I bought a second cheaper pair as back up - for probably 6 months of the year I need the heat....

Seconded.... my Gerbing gloves are also the best thing ever for cold weather riding. So much better than heated grips, whether for shorter rides using the small battery packs or longer rides using the bike battery connection.
