No it was down to the greedy money men manipulating the markets for their own gains and this is exactly the same. The financial markets make money in bad times and that is what they are doing now. It is currently very easy to blame 'Brexit' whilst taking money out of our pockets but it will be something else in ten years time as the greedy financial sector robs us blind yet again.
Yes every currency analyst may be making predictions but that is because they make up the rules of the game and that is how they make money. The predictions are made to 'condition' us to expect things to get worse, but not enough to stop us paying in to pensions every month and to cushion the blow of the inevitable crash when they take our money and run.

When they want more money they'll suddenly buy into the pound big time and watch it soar back up again before cashing in again, when that happens exports will suffer and more job losses will follow

AJP UK is still in business, run by Gwilym.
It's Garw Valley he has closed. So AJP UK will still import the bikes for the AJP dealer network and support those dealers, however they will not be dealing direct with the public so queries go through the dealer.

Brexit was always going to have an effect on companies importing goods from the EU so why would anyone who voted to leave try to argue against the fact that it would? They shouldn't care in the slightest because they kept saying we'd have to take a bit of pain and if it happens then obviously they hope the pain doesn't filter down to them.

Nonsense. The reason for the weak pound is simple - the perceived risk of tariffs to Europe, it's nothing to do with currency analysts. Your post above defines the cynical and ignorant attitude to prevalent on this forum, sadly.

I can't believe that some guy has had misfortune of his company having to cease trading and his employees have lost thier jobs and this forum has managed to turn it into yet another Brexit discussion!

We all know there are a lot more reasons for companies going to the wall than just Brexit!

Who can honestly say they haven't bought something online because it was cheaper than the high street price,I know I have!

Also it was pointed out that AJP is hardly a market leader in bikes and I'm guessing this could go a little way with a company not making a profit.

As always this is just my personal opinion and I'm sure some of the nice folk on here will be along soon to correct me if I have said something wrong about Brexit (thumbs)

I agree, AJP were never going to make it, they were junk! Many new riders asked me if they were a good buy and I advised to steer well clear. They cost as much as a 2 year old KTM or Jap bike and lasted 12 months if you could get the spares.

I'd say the local AJP dealer isn't doing much better over all.

In your opinion and based on what exactly ? have you owned one? ridden one ? I thought as much ! There is a very different view where I live, AJP have had a strong presence and performed well in local events with an exemplorary record supported by a great back-up and service. I have owned a shed load of Orange machinery in the past from 200 to 990cc and in my opinion they do not live up to the hype or price tag they command, a point I make regularly with a great riding mate who is South Wales main KTM dealer.

To be fair, AJP were not trying to deceive people, they pitched at a particular market, the price reflected the quality and performance of their bikes. And before anyone spouts off about residual value and what it would be worth in 2 years time compared to a KTM, the answer is there are too many people with less money still prepared to pay too much for the Orangery hype, even second hand, it doesn't make them better bikes. High maintenance costs, high cost for spares and low service intervals will point you toward a ' whole life cost' figure, it may surprise you to know that KTM come out rather poorly compared to its mainstream competition for cost of ownership, think about it ?

all these thing do not `just happen` ... they are planned.

It's a real pity that these guys have lost their livelihood, even more so that when they actually state Brexit as one of the key factors there are people who claim to know their business better than them and are quite certain Brexit has nothing to do with it hmy: Hopefully simple denial of any problems will work well as a plan for us over the next few years.
