Mate your money, your time which is more precious. So if you fancy it go for it but I must admit I would personally look at a fly/ride option plenty of those around if you don't fancy shipping your own.

What ever you decide have a great trip

cheers Spud ;)

I'm sure this would be a great trip but at a price ... there are cheaper options if you want a guided trip in the USA. Have a look at http://www.worldmotorcyclingtours.com/tour-dates. Been on one of their trips to Morocco and was well organised with plenty of time to take in the culture, it gave me the confidence to do it by meself the next time on my own terms.

I don't know about the original poster but the idea of going with Nick Sanders would be a major plus point for me. Ok, he's a bit of a nutter and comes across as being a particularly 'driven' man but you'd need to be to get away with the things he's done and spending a few weeks with him could be great fun.

I know Nick as he's not far from me and I've scouted a ride out with him and also ridden with a couple of groups he has arranged (organised is not the correct word for it). Moto Al's friend's experience is more to the point

As Andy has eluded to, what you will get is access to areas that you might have been uncomfortable doing your own thing first time round

He has many local contacts and knowledge

As far as riding is concerned these are hard riding days more than sight seeing

The tours are not like other organised tours where the days are short and lunch is served and hotels are booked in advance. That is doable in known terrain and the routes short enough to cope with plan changes during the day.

Nick's rides are more on the edge so the feeling of adventure is real and if you approach it like that you will have a great time. Expecting a polished tour event you will be disappointed

As for meals - some days we did not eat from breakfast till stopping at dark

The other people operating in that area / arena is Globebusters (Kevin & Julia Sanders- of no relation to Nick) - big difference in price though

Globebusters prices are an absolute joke, but it may well give the 'new' adventure bike (rich) rider something to spend thier money on and give them something to talk about after, If 'Touring Ted' or Chris Bright did thier trips using Globe wallet busters, I am pretty sure it would run into Millions.£££££££££$$$$$$$$$$$$€€€€€€€€€€€€€€

Not my cup of tea, if I do it will do it with a few mates and have our own plan, I work on a ship and on the bike it will be nice to just follow any path and any plan and be your own boss.
Customs etc are a part of the journey, if u r traveling in a third world country its easy to get an agent for a tenner and have things sorted. All an learning experience, take it for what it is.

But never a word for the poor soul's sake, that thought ahead and invented the brake.....

Pete, my mate went on this trip last year and loved it. He will be at the NEC with us on the 23rd so if we meet up sometime that day you can get some first hand advice.
Phil and I did the Morocco trip within Nick 2 years ago and had a great time.
Nick gets a lot of repeat custom on his trips so he's going something right B)

Spot on Bonniebird

He does get repeat business

It's an adventure with knowledge backup

We split the groups up into different ride abilities based on speed, mapreading etc with suggested meeting points, when I rode with him - not sure if he still does that now

How was your trip Bonniebird (I did see your ride report)

Sounds like hell to me. No chance to go take that side trip, no chance to spend a few days with a girl you just met and £195 a day WTF.... Well I did spend 14 months riding RTW through 27 country's on about £25 a day

i agree completely.
if it all went tits up and you had a big personality clash with nick sanders (lets face it, he IS nuts) then surely theres an option to go your own way and meet up at the end of each day. speaking of which, it may not even be him, 21 is a big group, and a lot of strangers thrown together. there will probably be at least half a dozen you wouldnt piss on if they were on fire. if the group naturally broke up into several sub groups a good leader/guide should be able to adapt, i'd even expect it. 21 bikes staying together for this sort of thing is a big ask, this isnt an ABR rally road rideout with 2nd man drop off. i think personally it sounds a laugh, if i had the money and time to blow i'd be tempted just to have a tour with the man. if he can get 21 paying customers up dressed and breakfasted by a reasonably early start time hes a miracle worker, in my experience it always seems theres 20 people sat on bikes waiting and one knob who takes 10mins to get his gloves on, that drives me mad.
