I suppose here in Britain we are really living in a police state, or more accurately a security services state.

No free speech.
No right defend yourself (pepper spray and tear gas outlawed).
Internet and all phone calls monitored.

Mind you probably worse abroad, used to have to go to Germany on business, Hamburg, if there was trouble and the police knew that the troublemakers were non nationals, they used to throw them into the police van head first.

Go and live in a PROPER police state before spouting such nonsense.....

What a load of bollox. We throw everybody into vans headfirst. It is the only way to do it.

Sadly, that is ONE of the problems. Lack of publicity. Everyone knows that its against the law to steal, assault, etc, but it is less well known about all these silly little punitive laws that we can fall foul of without knowing. Furthermore, they have been made absolute so we are guilty by default and the fine hits the door mat with very little recourse except to those that imposed the fine and they just give you the big finger. (Yes, I have been caught too.)

The other big problem is that law makers are paid to make laws, so they do just that whether they are needed or not.
