Take 5 mins to take off and put back on, piece of piss as they say!paulgoy wrote:Wondering which way to go myself ,timcat1069 wrote:Rally Raid luggage rails & ortlieb dry bags.
Rails are pricy but act to protect the bike & exhaust if it goes over & ortlieb bags are about £35.00 each held on with Rok straps.... Waterproof & bombproof....
Are the Rallyraid rails easy to take off when not in use ?

Re: KTM 690 LUGGAGE ADVICE
I would take a trip to a supplier who has most of the kit. I think Adv Spec has 90% of the popular stuff apart from the rr kit and try it for yourself.
Various issues with most of them depending on type of riding you will be doing and your riding style etc.
GL stuff for example, great stuff but on pretty steep technical stuff when you want to get your arse back over the rear it's not ideal for that as it sits high.
Currently got the wolfman kit, personally I dont like the rails as a rule on my bikes and have had GL stuff in the past but as Harty said they take 5-10 mins to take off so not really a problem.

As Harty said 5 mins to take off but personally I keep mine on as they also carry a tool tube & other bits
If you want the Kreiga stuff also goes well on the racks...

KTM 690 LUGGAGE ADVICE
I use giant loop gear basin., had it about 3 years now , expensive but worth every penny .
Re: KTM 690 LUGGAGE ADVICE
Not so bad on the 990 adv. you have a nice big passenger space but on the 690 I found it a bit tight and not enough room to move about.
I now have a 640 adv with frames and Wolfman bags. The frames act as protection and help in picking it up when you drop it.

I know I can do that that's why I'm not going to try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what else I can remove. Tent, sleeping bag and roll mat take up most of the room. And I've got decent gear that doesn't take up much space.XR400STUPOT wrote: Hi Stu

They said the giant loop coyotee was the one to go for for a mainly off road trip with a small roll bag if you need it , the grand basin would be too big , they said if you can't get all your gear in the coyotee your taking too much
Give them a bell they were really helpfull
Cheers
Paul
Anyone got experience with the jofuma bags on 690's, uh sky's etc. they give 50l which may just do.
Re: KTM 690 LUGGAGE ADVICE
mike, 60 litres? How big is your tent? I take less than 30 when I go for 2 weeks in a truck. what are you taking? lets have a list and maybe we can turn you into a packing god

The good thing is that you can just roll it down to the size you want. In my duffle, I have my tent, sleeping bag, air bed, pillow and compressorpaulgoy wrote:You decided yet stu? Heres what I took to the Pyrenees last year for a 10 day trip....the blue bag is 60L....so I actually took more than 60L.
Maybe I just buy the coyotee and just fill it.
