Always slow down for them but that's more due to not wanting them to take me out more than anything.

And of course to have a quick look at the rider.

I always slow down,and I agree about 2 side by side and there shit on the road is wrong,if the rider thanks me 4going slow and wide fine,but if I get dirty looks and no wave or head nod I'm quite happy to blip the throttle!

As said before "Winston Churchill got rid of road tax in 1937, horse riders, cyclists and pedestrians have more right to use the roads than motorists"

The reason he got rid of it was to stop motorist thinking they own the road, that`s why it`s called vehicle excise duty.

As for horse poo, avoid it! if you`re going so fast you can`t that`s your fault, I use it as a warning there is a horse ahead
Loads of horse riders around here and they are always appreciative of me slowing down, anyway a lot of them are fit young fillies

That's just being pedantic, VED, or "road tax" as it is commonly known, is used to fund projects such as bridges and overpasses therefor your statement that other tax payers (who actually pay for the roads) have more right to use the roads, have no such thing.
Horseriders expect special treatment on the road compared to other road users, it is not right, they have no more right to the road than any other road user or tax payer and should be grateful people like most of us on here do actually give them that extra care. Personally I feel they have no more right to be on the road than moto cross bikes have to be on public footpaths and should be banned from all National speed limit roads as they are a danger.

Always slow down for horse's, gives my pillion rider a better shot :laugh:
On a serious side, living in a rural area with horse's every where it get's my goat when I see young kid's out on the road riding without adult supervision, Iam not doubting their riding abillatey only what happen's if something go'es wrong.

I never made the statement that tax payers have more right to use the road than motorists. Horse riders, cyclists and pedestrians have the right, from birth, to use the public roads. Motorists require a licence to do so.

All road users have a duty of care to everyone else one the road, this is not 'special treatment', this is how a civilised society behaves.

So let`s get this right, ramblers are wrong to complain about vehicles on green lanes but it`s OK for us to moan about horses on the road hmy: double standards?
