Re: RTW
Me and Mark have made it as far as Omsk and we have had some pretty strange but great experiences since Irktusk - we stayed with a crazy Russian guy named Valodia in his wooden house for a couple of days and met all his friends. Valodia and his friends were so welcoming - we were the very first English people they had ever seen.
All very humbling for those who have so very little to give us so much.

That's the security guard - nthey were sh*t scared that someone would damage or steal the bikes - would cause them a bit of a headache so they thought it best to put them away from sight.

Wow, you are seriously motoring. I expected it to take you months to get that far. Same distance again and you will be at Calais ready for the ferry home.strimstrum wrote:Me and Mark have made it as far as Omsk
How many miles are you covering per day on average?

Re: RTW
Depends on how we feel - some days zero miles - but most days around 350 miles with some days at 450 and one at 760 (but that was not by choice - no hotels). We seem to average about 8 to 10 hours in the saddle with stops only for fuel. Some roads you can average 60mph and others are so bad that you are lucky to get out of 3rd gear. However, since Kansk the roads have been much better (aspart from our little detour out of the wrong turning into Kazakhstan where we had a 90km detour on dirt roads)beddowsm wrote:Wow, you are seriously motoring. We will probably get some more off road stuff in the Balkans after we exit Ukraine - we are hoping to get onto the Transfaragaan in about 3 weeks time then we will be heading towards Croatia and then North West to UK
