Best of luck with the Forza. It's nice scooter, huge fuel tank, lots of power (at least compared to the PCX
).

To Bulgaria.
That will a long trip. More or less as long as you can go in Europe.
Until you can get your coffee i Kiev.
Do you plan to go camping or hotel ?
With low fuel cost, you can use the money for accommodation instead.
How long time do you plan to spend on that trip ?
I hope that you write a blog here as a travel story.
Ride safe.

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
At the moment the plan is to leave on 1st May, across to Calais on the Eurotunnel then a couple of long days across to Cesky Krumlov, then whizzing across Hungary and ending up in Brasov for a few days to take in the area, maybe ride some passes though I think it may be too early in the season, but we shall see.
From there a quick hop down to Belogradchik to see the fortress there, and then heading back up to avoid Serbia. My insurance doesn’t cover there and Kosovo is still a no-go according to UK government. So a ride around the bottom of Hungary takes me round and then into Austria, and then back through the dolomites and some passes like Stelvio and then back up through France.
22 days. With 18 days riding and 4 days off.

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
It looks as a fantastic trip.
And you picked some nice things that you want to pass/see on the way.
I also like that way of travelling. To search in advance for special places. If you don't do the research, you will miss a lot.
The chances are small that you just ride into those places are small.
Then of course. Surprises will happen and be extras. Tings that you had no idea about.
And plans will change. But when you do those changes, you have information and knowledge from the planning phase, that is very useful.
Ride safe and enjoy

When I was in Italy, I looked for a ferry to Croatia. But it was the wrong time of the year.
=> everything east of Germany and Italy are still on the "to ride" list

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
How is the Forza going for you? I keep looking it up when looking at new bikes online. The ADV350 is also tempting. Shame the ADV 160 is not available in Europe.Godspeed wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 3:16 pm Just before Christmas I made a bit of a change to my bikes. I think partially it was from my last trip where I was racing back from Paris along the motorways to try to get back to see my Dad who was dying.
I really missed having a little more power so decided to have a look to see what else was out there.
I came to the conclusion that I wanted the weather protection and scooter practicality but with more power so bought myself a 2024 Forza 350. I’m just up to my 600 mile service now and it’s been really good.
Easy riding I can get 90mpg, there’s 40 litres of space under the seat, and the cvt transmission is very smooth. I did a couple of 100 mile trips and it felt as comfortable as the PCX so I’ve planned a trip in May to ride down to Romania and Bulgaria.
The PCX then became a little obsolete so I advertised it and within 1/2 a day it had sold.
I’ve still got the Innova so I can strap a tent on the back and do some trails if I fancy but the 350 will now be my long distance weapon of choice.
Goodbye PCX, gone but not forgotten

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
Totally agree. I think that would have been my ideal choice. A little bit rugged but still light enough and enough power for motorways. If only…
To be fair though the Forza is doing a great job, as a shakedown for my trip in May I’m off this Thursday down to Portsmouth then heading to Sarlat La Caneda for a few days.
I find it as smooth as the PCX but with that extra bit of power. My only gripe is that it’s about 50kg heavier which is a right pain in the ass when I have to push it backwards up my sloped driveway
I’ll do a brief ride report after this trip and we’ll see whether it makes a good tourer.

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
Took the Innova for a nights camping.
Was determined I wasn’t going to get cold so loaded it up more than I take on a 3 week trip abroad

Unfortunately it was pretty windy. I was ok but the guy along from me who had just bought his brand new tent didn’t fare so well He put the table on after it had blown down to stop it blowing away

Yes,
some times you need real stuff.
And knowledge how to use.
Your tent looks good.
What is it ?
