Re: Heide,Heide now (K60s)
I am thinking of putting a set of these on my Tenere - the TKCs that I've currently got on are pretty shagged - however, just to recap, although the manufacturer's spec for the rear is 130mm, a 140mm will be OK?
Over a long enough timeline, everyones survival rate drops to zero
Re: Heide,Heide now (K60s)
I will be fitting another set as soon as the Tourance xps wear out, they just out last every other tyre and grip well enough on the road, and are good enough for light trails.
Finally back on a GS

Yes the 140 will fit. I must say I love this tire. The question will be how long it lasts.Mr Free Market wrote:I am thinking of putting a set of these on my Tenere - the TKCs that I've currently got on are pretty shagged - however, just to recap, although the manufacturer's spec for the rear is 130mm, a 140mm will be OK?

Well I got somewhere between 3,500 - 4,000 miles outta the TKC rear, so lets see how the K60 goes; I'll be ordering some in the morning

K60's, my new favourite tyre
Just about to finish 17,000 miles in the US on a couple of Alaska trips on my GSA and have to say these tyres are brilliant as an all round, do anything tyre. I find TKC's more secure off road as I find the front a little vague on gravel with the K60's but once you get used to that, they are good. On tarmac they are as good as anything else for a big traillie but are very noisy especially when getting a bit worn.
We've had every road condition (and weather) under the sun and they have coped no problem with loaded GS's being hamfistedly thrown around!!
I changed the first set after 8500 miles but they probably had a couple left in them. Tyre pressures are a big thing with them and I've found 34psi in the front and 36psi in the back to be spot on even on the rough stuff. They coped with all the Dalton Hwy could throw at them (mud, rain, gravel etc etc) with no problem at these pressure.
Only had a couple of punctures with them on 16 bikes running them so they are bloody tough. I had to repair a rear puncture on mine yesterday and trying to drive the reaming tool into the tread before the rats tail took some doing.
Everyone who ran them has said how impressed they are with them on GS's and I have to say I think
they are a perfect tyre for a big trip in all conditions.

Re: Heide,Heide now (K60s)
I know this is a fairly old thread, but I'v been looking for a set of tyres.
And the Heidenau K60 Scout are getting a good write up
I have found this site which seems to sell them
http://www.motorcycleproducts.co.uk/cat ... =2a&page=1
But am confused.....well nothing new there.
I thought there was a difference between the Scout and the M+S tyre.
Looking at their site they are advertising the tyre as a "catspaw, M+S, Scout"
Can someone enlighten me Pleeeeez.
Cheers Dog

Re: Heide,Heide now (K60s)
My Scouts are marked M+S (mud & snow) but knowing what they're like in mud, I decided not to try them in snow
I think M+S means they've passed some EU test for them to clear mud or snow from the tread in certain conditions, not that they are a mud or snow tyre.
6500 miles on this set (my 2nd) loads of life left
Rick

Yes above is correct in that the m+s is for euro tyre classification..the fronts are available as two different compounds enduro and scout m+s more silica in scouts for colder weather grip and narrower spacing on tread..
rear have two scouts the normal and m+s...basically older stock and new design..these tyres go back 10years..
