I’ve fixed a couple, the biggest killer of these bikes is the Sprag (starter) clutch.

If it starts to play up, buy the starter kit [ https://yambits.co.uk/xv535-virago-star ... -8302.html ] to repair it, if left unfixed it buggers the flywheel and you can’t get them.

Today I made the first ride after 8½ month of surgery and recovery.
It went well.
80 km easy tour.
So in one way this the end of the road to get to riding again.
But of course. There is a long way left until I can ride the bikes I want, travel and camp with tent.
The way I am used to and would like to return to.
By looking at the bright side. I can use this summer for riding small tours in this beautiful area.
And visit many local event.
And that was what I was hoping and working for.

The coffee place from the other side.
No problems riding a custom bike with bald rear tire on a dirt road.
You don't need an "adventure bike" to leave the tarmac. (Real trails is another thing)

I think that this will be the end of the story for now.
Maybe I add some new posts when/if I reach new milestones.
But now I will try to enjoy the summer

We are enjoying the Simon Reeves BBC Series on Scandinavia (I PLAYER) at the moment...he's not got to Sweden yet, but looking forward to when he does.

I am happy that you enjoy the program
I can't look at the program. But part 1 is "Arctic archipelago of Svalbard to Nato’s longest border with Russia"
It is tricky.

Scandinavia can mean two things

a) the Scandinavian Peninsula. Sweden, Norway and a part of northern Finland. Even Finland is not a Scandinavian Country
b) the Scandinavian countries, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Here Denmark is included, Even it is not part of the Peninsula

He probably mean "The Nordic Countries"

If anyone would plan a trip to this area. I can help with information of nice roads and areas

He also went to Iceland...which he admitted is not at all part of Scandinavia geographically, but is culturally.

He made the case that these lands, which are relatively close to Northern England and Scotland, should perhaps have a greater cultural influence on us than they do, and we maybe shouldn't look to the USA for our lead all the time. I have to say that, in the current circumstances, he has a point.

It's not in the programme, but I seem to recall a proposal in the Scottish Northern Islands that Scandinavian languages should be first option for schools there rather than French, German or Spanish.

Update at the end of summer in Sweden.

I has been a good period.
My hope was to handle the daily life in a more difficult environment than in an apartment in Portugal. And to do some tours with the bike.

It has all worked out well.
I had no intention to do any "projects" this summer. With one exception. A floor in the shed.

I have been working hard some summers to get the place restored. But no such ambitions this year.
I could do daily things. Including work in the garden. And take some walks.

I could do some hours per day.
And the rest has been used for recovery. A lot of coffee breaks and a lot of reading.
Good for me to learn to slow down.
