Right then, less than a month to go. I fired off an email to the hostel to make sure things are still OK and asking a few more questions. The reply is below.

Dear Mike,

Yes it is still OK for you to ride up on the 7th of August !

As far as the transport of cans is concerned, I am afraid as we now have an alcohol licence, we will ask you not to bring your own but to buy from us. We have a good choice of real ales, wine and less so of lagers.

Bedding is all included, but towels and toiletries are not. If anybody forgets their towel, we have a few for hire (but not 22) for £ 1.50 apiece.

Our kitchen is fully equipped, the only thing we haven't got is a micro-wave oven as there is no mains electricity in the building.

It is worth bringing a torch. We do have lights in every room, but they are 24 volt lights with the switch on it, so to find the switch in the middle of the night a torch can be useful !

Yes it would help if you know a few days in advance if people want the cook-yourself breakfast and the pack-yourself lunch. It is entirely up to you.

Are you going to meet the group before ascending together, or are they going to be coming little by little ?

Regards.

Marie.

So...take your own towels and a torch.

NO BOOZE to be taken (or if you do, make sure its discreet as they are expecting us to buy from them). Ive pre warned them to stock up as I know a few a bigger drinkers.

If you want the cook yourself food post on here for numbers. Personally Id rather just take my own.....but will go with the flow. They will need to know numbers.

Arriving - Ive said it will be in dribs and drabs on the Friday night. Aim to arrive 17:30 onwards please. No tearing up and down the access tracks, Ive told them we will be using them just to get to and from the hostel. There are plenty more legal trails in the Lakes that we can use. Be courteous of other track users, bikers, walkers, horses etc etc.

Ive said we will more than likely leave as 3 groups on the Saturday, arriving back as 3 groups in the evening. Lets try not to cause any upset to other locals or users. Remember this track is private and advertised everywhere as a traffic free zone......

Last thing, without wanting to impose too many rules, stay to the track, don't be tempted to tear to the top of Skiddaw!!!

Oh, and could do with a couple more ride leaders for heading out Saturday. Ill lead a group of around 10 on larger bikes (well any bike!). Trails are not easy on my route. Lots of rocks etc etc.
