Nice to get out in the tent again though busy with a lot of children and the classic phrases were:
‘You are embarrassing me in front of our family’
‘Stop running in front of the cars’
‘Did you just fart in the shower?’
Brilliant 😂
One thing I did notice is how, when you are camping, it’s the same amount of stuff for one night as 3 weeks almost.

Agreed, I'm getting so old and grumpy that camping in the school hols is less fun.

Also one night and one month needs the same stuff apart from a clothes wash and maybe the thickness of the book I pack.

Ebook reader. You can have hundreds of books in the same small space.

True, there is nothing quite like the smell of an old book to calm my soul after a long day.

For me it's getting lost in a story, on a nice backlit screen, that I can read without a flashlight. :D

Took my PCX125 up to the Peak District for a spot of walking and riding. A nice couple of days though unfortunately I managed to drop the bike…
Was visiting Bakewell (mainly for puddings 😉) and left my bike in a residential area to save on parking costs. Came back to the bike, satnav on, packed everything away, started riding with a bit of oomph and stopped dead.
Oh crap, I’ve left the front chain on, and now I’m facing downhill with it totally wrapped around the front wheel. Tried as I might I couldn’t rotate the wheel backwards to loosen the chain and the lock wouldn’t open in this position either.
So, lifted the bike onto the centre stand and rotated the bike around 180, so it was facing uphill, and it was at this point I leaned it too far and it ended up rolled on its side.
It’s the most horrible feeling seeing your bike lying on the floor and knowing it was your fault. 😢
Fortunately, at 130kg fully fuelled it was a doddle to lift up. Sat on the bike and jumped it backwards until the front wheel rotated and chain loosened off.
Surprisingly only some minor scratches and a bit of the mudguard came off. But the most fortunate bit was there was no one around to see me drop it, and to see the resulting red faced lunatic swearing under his breath of what a plonker he’s been. Phew!!!
Anyway, some lovely miles ridden and the bike still seems to be returning 135mpg so that keeps me happy.

Austin Vince said some time that his favorite bike for long distance travelling would be a Yamaha XT 250.
(His wife did Alaska-Ushusai on an XT 225)

Here is a Brasial version-
XTZ 250.
From Brasil to Ushusaia to top of Argentina and back to Brasil.

I would love to see more of these type of bikes in Europe

Totally agree Erik!

Just look at the CT125 - not here in UK,
And I’d love to get some of the bikes popular in the Indonesian area like the Honda ADV 150. I’d really like one of those.
