Hi Kitped,

You wouldn't happen to have a spare lid by any chance? Mine is gone.

Cheers

Has anyone fitted one discretely to a KTM 690 Enduro R?

Might be a good solution to my tailpack thought.
2022 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro sadly gone due to ill health.
Now on a 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X but may be fitter next year.

Has anyone had a problem with the brackets on these tool tubes snapping. I used my new tube yesterday for the first time and was lucky not to lose my tools or worse still have an accident as the bracket snapped and left the tube dangling by the other mount.

I stayed on board all day yesterday so it didn't take a whack and it's mounted on rubber isolated exhaust mounts and well away from the wheel so a little disappointing for it to just snap like that :(

Never had one snap mate but i always mount front of holder by cap end on 2 holes not one... Ive even bent them with hot air guns... Id add a small metal bracket and 2 holes and remount so spreading the load... Also used big exhaust silencer mounts too round tube holder..

Yes Bob, had mine snap same as in your photo. I've since made up an L section alloy mounting bracket and bolted tube to this one end and wrapped heavy duty zip ties round the other. I've now noticed the thread on lid is nearly worn out... I won't be bothering with another one, I don't think they're up to the task despite their popularity but maybe the quality varies and i got a dodgy one.

It looks like its chafed on the round mounting until a little groove has worn, As its mounted in shear ( sideways) a crack and failure have followed quite quickly. These tubes were originally developed to carry documents on plant like minidiggers and we use them well outside their design parameters , to carry heavy tools. I'm not saying you've done it wrong , but I think it's important to think about how the tube will behave when we are riding the bike, will it shake, twist or whatever. Spreading the load with metal plates and so on helps obviosly. Glad you didn't lose your stuff!
