Nope,it was me..I read it again..that's the start of it you do realise?bmw1200 wrote:Sorry - I was referring to the ferry from Spain to Morocco
We'll just turn up at the port, dander in and buy a one way ticket from Alegciras to Tanger Med.
It's very much like buying a train ticket..there's ferries all over the place...this way you can buy a ticket for the next one leaving after you get there....but....they'll not be leaving on time...or they might....Africa starts at Algeciras.

. Simon is that campsite open till November, wondering if it'd be handy to leave van etc there and join in riding rest of way ?The Spanish Biker wrote:Then you'll need to plan a stop in central Spain so why not make that render-vous #2 for people taking the Santander/Bilbao ferries or, like me, will be coming form elsewhere in the Pyrenees?WIBO wrote:That's fine...bimble down at your own speed anytime beforehand. I'll ping GPS/address details closer to the time.
Normally we ride over Col du Pourtalet past El Formigal ski station and Biescas to Zaragoza etc.
In the meantime you can look for my village at Asson with a postcode of 64800 to orientate yourself.(I'll add this in page one also)

The camping at Albarracín is still open after October 12th - when most campings close - and also has bungalows for the fainthearted as it's @ 1,200 metres and can be very cold at night. But there are also loads of cheap digs in the 'city'*
That also makes a nice onward trip to Almeria ready for the crossing from there - is that's the route we take?

That camping is open all year round, one of the very few ...Spadger wrote:Simon is that campsite open till November, wondering if it'd be handy to leave van etc there and join in riding rest of way ?
But it's a long way from Southern Spain - much better to carry on further south, if we don't stop at that guy's place near the tavernas desert we could use San Jose on the lovely Cabo de Gata - I'm fairly sure it's open all year round - full of naked hippy women too!

Sorry, missed all the stuff about Algeciras - Wow the predictive text got that! - and I'm with WIBO, just roll up ...The Spanish Biker wrote:That camping is open all year round, one of the very few ...Spadger wrote:Simon is that campsite open till November, wondering if it'd be handy to leave van etc there and join in riding rest of way ?

Not very keen of farting around Madrid so i'l do my own thing, but the A-389 down to Algeciras from Ronda is a 'must do' ride - the only way to get to that part of the coast IMHO ...

PS there's a great little hotel opposite the station at Ronda - the Hotel Andalucia, OK null points for originality! It's a bit gloomy and old fashioned - so a home from home for me! - but has easy parking and is away from the tourist hoards. We were there in February to collect the beast from his foster home ...

"I think you've summed up Adventure Bike Riding perfectly WIBO and the attitudes and overbearing opinions of the doubters/doubter. I am personally full of envy, but admiration of all those that have signed up and committed to joining your Adventure. I only wish I could be one of them, I salute you all you lucky bar-stewards"
Thank you for the kind words.
Yes..these kinds of people...I guess that when they were kids and their friends got a better bicycle than theirs for Xmas..they were able to tell their friends that even though their bike was new, that it had only five gears instead of ten.....or that their disc brakes were only cable operated instead of hydraulic....You get the picture.
They never understood why they were pointed at and laughed at by other kids and this still applies in adult life. IMO this is one of the reasons why they are angry. Once these angry people learn what it's all about they will be content within themselves.
