i do belive that your onto somthin here with the ktm B) and your on the money the ktm 250 f will make a great adv bike platform the more reserch i do the more i realise most things about it is right for the job it really does have huge potential ..wouldnt cost very much at all to adapt it for longer distances and it would be probably the lightest bike of that capacity ever used ..awsome
looking forward to the pictures on the build should work brillintly i think B)
I have the Yam WR250R--it takes a little sorting--again suspension--but with a CMS 3 gal tank it will go the distance. Yamaha stopped importing them here but I believe they are still available new in the US where there is a BIG following as they are suited to US distances

that looks a very nice looking bike

Getting back on track with title, what mods have people done ? We have two crf's and a drz e for lumpier stuff , so one Crf has a yoshi front pipe , acerbis handgaurds, renthal enduro bars as originals bend so easy , sump guard, casing covers
, changed gear and brake levers , 13/42 combi sprockets ( just done ) , tail tidy , rack , maxxis Enduro tyres , rim locks , the other has as above plus came with ejk fuel thingy ( not convinced re this yet ) k&n air filter , planning to put a different shock on one as I'm heavier than wifey, plus maybe Spring change in forks , we did lots of trails covering over 100 mls or ther abouts without fuel issues but carry 2ltr fuel friends , larger tanks ? Expensive , I know of others who have fitted ktm wheels which required new spacers and also rear fuel tank , I've never used mine in heavy mud or steep gravel climbsso can't comment on its ability but in general for a trail bike they've been good so far , options : thinking of arrow end cans or similar to reduce weight slightly

13/42 sprockets probably the most important mod, then tusk bar risers, moose racing skid plate, UNI foam air filter, folding gear lever, removed mirrors and passenger footpegs. Increased the idle, disconnected lambda sensor. That's about it for now. Next important thing would hyperpro progressive springs front and rear plus fmf pipe but not sure if I want to put that much money into bike which is way too heavy for what it should be anyway.
Most likely I will trade it for something more "race ready" next year.

you can improve them but just ride it as a trail bike not a race bike, I have had a go on a few of them in different modes, its a basic bike and not worst for it . spend your money on a holiday instead, its not wr or ktm just ride it as it is bit slower on the rough. great value for money and will take you anywhere relax and enjoy or get some riding practise........

. Jaynes has never been the same since you rode it

keeps falling over , she's blaming you anyway and you are totally correct in your summary miss my ktm and wr but what we use these for suits us re service intervals and like you say cheap bikes

first snow this year, those SG12 XC tyres are fantastic in such conditions.

They may be new ie so called rally version but they deffinately aint better unless you count the weight and fairing addition...
Imho the std bike is okay as a modern trail bike for middleaged riders who dont want to be part of team orange...
