It's obviously aimed at the BMW 800

when i saw the pictures i thought it WAS the 800GS, why the big mysterious build up if its virtually a copy?

Saw it today :woohoo: , a black road version. They are closed on xmas eve but will have both versions for road test duty in the new year. Liked it, imagine having to queue to sit on a bike on a very cold december day.

article has styling sketches dated may 2007 well before the BMW was launched. So, unless BMW used the same designer it isn't a straight copy.

But the question is, did they add the date to the top early sketches or remove the date from the same sketches further down the page. :whistle:

The fact that they copied BMW styling is clear from the picture showing a BMW in the clay modelling room at Triumph. :laugh:

Actually, it's not a copy it's an improvement.
In fact it wouldn't matter what shape they produced they'd get accused of copying something else. The top pic in your post is very Honda TransAlp, the bottom right is very Aprilia Pegaso. etc. etc.
Personally I think the BMW styling is utter crap on MOST of their bikes. e.g. what's all this headlamp stuff looking like Sir Patrick Moore?
The F800? FFS there's not one part that looks like it belongs next to its neighbour.
