The wife would murder me if she had some strange bloke I don't know off an internet forum, who smells like he's been wild camping for a month, tramping through the house to get the the toilet in the middle of the night. Similarly if he went to the toilet in the garden instead she'd murder him.
I'd be more than happy for an ABR that I'd met, or somebody I knew had vouched for, to come and stay, but then I'd be putting them in the spare bedroom and cooking their dinner.

Tell them to piss in a bottle then show it to your wife in the morning as proof.-Ralph- wrote:The wife would murder me if she had some strange bloke I don't know off an internet forum, who smells like he's been wild camping for a month, tramping through the house to get the the toilet in the middle of the night. This is probably going to sound really mean but I'd sooner offer a room if someone on here asks for one instead of throwing it out in the open and not really having the faintest idea of who I'm letting sleep in either my house or garden.
At least that way I can use some kind of an idiot filter and not offer rather than have someone ask and feel awkward about knocking them back.

Yep, I agree. If anyone on here needs a free room near the A14 just post up your dates and ask, and if you're an established member who makes sensible posts, and the dates fit, there's a good chance I'll respond to the thread with an offer of a bed.AndyB wrote:This is probably going to sound really mean but I'd sooner offer a room if someone on here asks for one instead of throwing it out in the open and not really having the faintest idea of who I'm letting sleep in either my house or garden.

At the end of the day your only offering a favour.Your under no obligation to give everyone who asks a place to stay.If you fail my idiot filter I'll just say it's not convenient, and I won't feel bad about it.And if you pass my wife's filter you might even get a spare room.
