Also - have a good look at Medical Grade Gels.

Long story - but I've spent a lot of my professional life, putting unconscious people into unusual positions for many hours - and avoiding pressure damage was a bit of a thing for me...

Medically, gel is often used, as well as some specialist foams.

I have a seat that has been rebuilt, and that has a layer of gel within it as well as foam.

The trick with gel through, is to just use a small layer, as if its too deep, it allows you to slide off, if you see what I mean.

Also - I spent a lot of money on my seat, and had it covered in Black Alcantara Suede - looks ace!

But to protect the seat, and for my own comfort - on long trips (I regularly ride Manchester to Aberdeen) - I chuck my £30 black sheepskin over it - and that is amazing...

I've bought upholstery foam from here in the past if that helps you out.

Just a though may be worth bearing in mind - if you do go for fixing your seat yourself try to ensure that any foam that you purchase for the job is 'closed cell' as 'open cell' foam (like a car washing sponge) will readily absorb and retain water.

Sorry if this is preaching to the choir :P
