I just ride with a dark visor on all the time :whistle:robson wrote:but changing whole visor is not practical during the trip at all, sometimes I put my sun visor up and down several times when going through woods then some open spaces and woods again. All can change within minutes, should I stop and change visor every time I'm in shadow??? :silly:
IMO for touring sunvisor is a must.

that's what I have actually currently what can you tell about quality comparing to Arai?Paul-S wrote:Nolan X-Lite X551 Adventure
I got one to replace my 10 year old Arai Tour X and love it to bits
I like this helmet but I had problem on the very beginning with paint going out from plastics which were replaced under warranty. Also the visor is not very tight, sometimes small fly manage to get into...plus recently helmet developed whistling on left ear side.

Re: top adventure touring helmets and no sunvisor?
I have the latest THH with peak and flip down sun visor. It has the double D fastener(and ACU gold sticker if that means anything). I had the previous model and literally wore it to death--washed the lining several times , spares are easy to get--its a BIG Taiwanese company (check them out) and makes for other "manufacturers" as well-Bell, Nolan etc I think. The shape is a bit radical---but its very well vented and fits me well---I use it offroad and also at "high speed" on my Tiger 1050--even works on my CBR jellymould. I'm a glasses wearer for distance and I do like the extra ventilation for that style. I wore it in the torrential rain of a couple of weeks ago and it was great. I reckon that you do get what you pay for but that doesn't mean that there are not good products out there at 1/3 of the price.

Good idea you should patent it.......robson wrote:nice, at that price range arai and shoei should have it as standard.
I wear photochromatic glasses whilst riding and find them great as they adjust pretty well to changing road lighting conditions

Re: top adventure touring helmets and no sunvisor?
I love my Tuzo adventure helmet and have managed to bodge my sun visor so I can still wear it (little plastic fixing lug lost in Europe). Need a replacement thanks to M&P's wonderful customer service (phoned up to see if they stock the lugs as spares and got "I'm busy, send me an email" which I duly did but have received sod all back)
Think I'll be buying one of those O'Neal Sierra Adventure ones that have been discussed in other threads

I have an Arai and a Shoei. Both great helmets but I find the Shoei has a lot less wind noise compared the the Arai.
Going by price the Shoei Hornet has always been cheaper that the Arai X4 Tour and that was my reason for buying my Hornet plus it felt as good as the Arai when wearing it.
