Congrats on not being dead which by the sounds of it could well have been your fate. All cagers should sit the CBT, it may make them more aware of us bikers, I know it did for me!

I've been saying since I passed my bike test only 3 years ago that all new drivers should have to sit a CBT test.

They should also have to spend a few hours in the cab of a fully laden Articulated vehicle, just to see how much further the stopping distances are over a car and to also understand exactly what blind spots are.

All the different road user group camps have opposing opinions on awareness training, non of which is really practical.
Could you imagine for example a car driver having to undertake training with cyclists, motorcyclists, van drivers, truck & bus drivers just to gain the perception of each groups road use before they're allowed out on the road? Then multiply it by each group swopping with each other, by the time anyone gained enough hours training, they'ed be retired. Then don't forget compulsory medicals & retraining (ie: the DCPC) every 5 years. After all it should be a level playing field, so if 1 group is subject to such timescales then why not everyone else?

I've recently noticed that on some more expensive cars there is a light in the door mirror that shines when something is detected in the blind spot or within a certain distance, maybe this could be developed further and wired in to the drivers genitalia :pinch:

I do try but being followed round the M25 by 40 tons of truck about six feet from my bumper suggests not all truck drivers know either

If there was no impact and both vehicles were undamaged I guess you didn't exchange insurance details?
It's just that with your injury you obviously have a claim against the car driver.

After a second trip to a&e turns out I've snapped my scaphoid bone and may need an operation taking bone off my hop and using it in my wrist
