You can make combination tools to save weight, I have welded cut off spanners to tyre levers to make one tool out of two and save weight and space.
Run spare cables alongside existing ones to save time in the event of a breakage.
Magura levers were the best when I was competing, bend but don't break. If they don't have them for your bike drill a small hole just by the ball, that way the ball breaks off and leaves you with a useable lever.
