light wrist exercises, try squeezing a tennis ball in your hand don't need to go to the gym avoid using weights for A while, it will take time to build up the strength again (the older you are the longer it takes)
Don't rely on a wrist support's.

Cheers.folks....
Sure some have been in same situation , what confounds me is that in just 5 weeks in plaster the whole wrist looses strengthband the tendons/ligaments contract.
Hate to think what would happen or recoperation time after a serious accident with months in hospital...complicqted thing the human body...

in many ways yes it is, but in simple terms which how I view it "use it or loose it" you gain back usage quicker than building it in the first place.
Exercise is not always the end all and be all of rehab, if you have a subluxed joint one that's not quite aligned correctly it needs realigning and some times it needs a little outside help of a Chiro or Osteo. I would argue muscles in spasm do not release that spasm just because you did a little exercise they may need a little help also.
Think of the body like a bike, all the units have to be functioning correctly for the bike to function at it's peak, think how much damage a misaligned chain or one with tight links can do and the loss of performance from those problems your body is just the same.
