We used the LD ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe last year and it was OK. The ship was smaller and probably older than the Normandie Ferries ships but it got us there safely and comfortably. The worst bit was Newhaven harbour, it looked like it had just been bombed by the Luftwaffe!

The Bay of Biscay can get pretty lumpy at times, I have been on a 112000 tonne cruise ship through there in a storm and even that got chucked about a lot (it was quite good really, over half the passengers and some crew were ill so the bars, clubs, casinos and shows were all dead quite for one night, you could get served so easily).

I would say try the LD ferry, get a cabin if you can, if its rough chew on root ginger (a herbal remedy for sea sickness), have a good meal, a couple of beers, get your head down and don't worry! (thumbs)

seasickness is bad but I would be more worried about my bike being smashed up :whistle:
