Airoh S4 Review - Ride through Europe and Africa
Re: Airoh S4 Review - Ride through Europe and Africa
Picos, what's it like in wet weather, does it mist up badly?

Hey hey
I think they're worth more than a 5.7/10 score too but it was just the average which was brought down mahoooosively by the cleaning and noise
If you look at the other rates separately then you can see it's a decent helmet
Noise wise... it is loud when comparing to much more pricey but similar styled helmets. But again, for what it is and price and for it's use... didn't bother us! It does some people though so we had to be fair with the scoring!
For the price and for what we used it in I would say it was near perfect for us
Wish we could have cleaned it a bit easier as it was super stinky by the end!
Wet weather Tyrant... we found you can crack the visor a smidgen (barely noticeable) and it wouldn't mist. This was even in that annoying misty wet weather + minus temperatures in the Alps. As said our separately purchased pin locks were disposed of in the first week as this method worked fine as it has many vents and a wide chin so good air flow. Note.. water can sneak up to your chin though because of the spacing!
Hope that makes more sense and people are less offended/more understanding by the average score

It can but if you leave the visor just up from the positive latch it will stay clear.Tyrant68 wrote:Picos, what's it like in wet weather, does it mist up badly?
You will get a few rain droplets on the inside of the visor.
I've never had to stop to clear the visor, always managed to sort it while riding.
Came over Black Mountain last Sunday with 100% saturation & about 100 ft vizibility, wasn't perfect but didn't hamper progress.

Wasn't offended at all Pheebs.Paul-S wrote:Great review Pheebs
Just wanted to defend it as I particularly like using it.
CLEANING:-
I have taken my old one to pieces for thorough cleaning twice.
All the inside pieces pull out & can be washed in a washing machine on low temp without falling to bits. They are a bit fiddly to put back but will go back perfectly.
The Peak & Visor are easy to remove for washing, a sloted screw either side & the 4 plastic half turn fastenings.
I have got a tinted visor on one of the helmets. They used to be 29 pounds but have jumped to 39 pounds now, tinted or plain.
Spares are easy to get including the complete inside soft furnishing, peak & plastic fastenings.

Again with the cleaning I think because we had a hard time fitting the headsets and glue was involved meant it was near impossible to remove without damaging. When we did remove it to fit the headsets we found it fiddly! But then I am pants with things like that, maybe if I got used to it it would have been easier ;D
