I have Ardcases too. Waterproof and very strong - the bike has been over several times on the panniers when in the soft stuff
Ardcase Panniers vs Others
Re: Ardcase Panniers vs Others
I did take a look at the Zega panniers and liked the look but they seemed a bit too expensive.
Re: Ardcase Panniers vs Others
Hi Paul,
It does seem that the Ardcases are very popular and could be the way to go, your bike looks great.

......As to the reason why anyone would wish to spend loads of hard earned money on boxes, well l supose its each to thier own , l would much rather spend money on my trips than on gear with questionable merit.[/quote]
This guy obviously wants metal boxes and fair play to him but I have to say that I agree with your sentiment.....

Glad to hear you're happy with your throw over luggage and it works for you, I've looked at some of the Giantloop, Adventure Spec and Kreiga options (these seemed the more waterproof options) but my preference is metal boxes to ensure as much water resistance as possible. Although I don't do many trips I will also carry some camera equipment and computer (when I use the bike for commuting) and hopefully metal boxes will keep things safe and secure.samfan wrote:I use my yamaha 900 for 5 or 6 camping trips a year sometimes with a bit of distance involved ,my luggage set consists of a pair of well used throw overs and a holdall straped over the the back.this is all the luggage that l have ever needed or wanted. As to the reason why anyone would wish to spend loads of hard earned money on boxes, well l supose its each to thier own , l would much rather spend money on my trips than on gear with questionable merit.

ard cases ,all the way stalkhoffers are just an expensive copy of rogers boxes
Re: Ardcase Panniers vs Others
Looked at the StahlKoffer panniers, they seem similar to Ardcases. I've not heard much these though.
The Ardcase panniers seem to get some great reviews, I don't think I've heard a negative so far. It looks like I'll be getting theses in the next few weeks. Probably go with the standard colours just in case I change my bike, if these panniers are that good then I'll want to keep hold of them!

Have a look at Hepco and Becker.
I have the panniers and they are very strong, they also pop back out if you dent them.
Also a great idea with the water between the outer and inner skins and tap. I have just come back from the Lymington meet and never once refilled the pair. I used them all weekend and got home on Sunday and still had to empty them.

Each side takes approx 3.5 litres of water/ Red or White wine.
Had a quick tally up and with the frames and taps, they come in at a cool £650.32 inc vat.
Mine were on a 955i, but sold the bike, sold the 955i frames for £100 and kept the panniers. When i bought my 800xc, just got a frame to fit that and they went straight on.
They also lock to the frames, with a decent lock and have 2 editional locks on the panniers to stop people knicking stuff.
Have a good look before you get Metal ones!
