Nice looking bike anyway but this colour is just something else.

In that rear 3/4 shot it looks more like a 1970 Triumph twin painted black with gold rims that a 1970 Triumph twin would if you painted it black and fitted gold rims.

The black with the gold rims is nice but the off road inspired custom with the red tank is just stunning.

It's a shame you didn't get on with it, I was under the impression that it is basically the W650 but with bigger engine internals and FI. I definitely would like to try a W650.

Personally, I find the W800 perfectly comfortable, guess it matters on your body shape a bit more on an unfaired bike *shrugs*, seems to fit me like it was tailor-made. I love it's lumpiness, it's vibes and it's thud although there is a bit of a "step" around 3,000 rpm but it's nothing you really notice if you keep the chain tensioned properly. Once the warranty is up I may sort it out but it's not really intrusive, guess it's hard to meet emissions regs these days and keep everything 100% smooth.

As for unstable, I find it corners fine at speed or slowly. Roll off the throttle a little and ease it back on throughout the turn if you want to go round them fast and it's absolutely fantastic in the horrible slippery snow/ice/rain nonsense we've been having recently, not had any "moments" at all. I've noticed it sometimes gets a wiggle on at 90+ but only if you get the wash from [strike]a brick[/strike] another vehicle like a Chav-tractor. Unsettled me at first but I stuck with the wiggle and it's fine whether staying the same speed, speeding up or slowing down, even if you brake heavily or there's strong wind. I've even tried to hunt for the most turbulent bit of air I can and again, it's fine. It wiggles a bit but holds a line perfectly and it doesn't affect the steering either, not even a slight bit of feedback through the bars. It never turns into a weave. Makes me grin. I think the bike has so much character but I suppose it depends on what you define as character and what you define as s flaw.

All I know is that whenever I ride it I am grinning like a loon in my helmet.
Glad you like the bike as I said I was dissapointed as I had big hopes for it. I think the problem was that I had owned a new Bonneville and in my opinion comparing the two I found the Bonne a better bike. This could be because physically it fitted me better and I found the engine easier to live with. Like you everytime I rode it I was grinning like a loon should never have got rid but I'm looking at a Scrambler.
