Feel free to steal the idea, isn't that why we post them? Couple of tips, buy the threaded rid first and take it with you when you buy the hose, that way you can check that it will fit in. I didn't, luckily they swapped the hose.

Spend the extra on stainless steel, water is bound to get in somewhere, and there's no way to check on corrosion.

I don't think these would cope with the weight of full panniers hanging off them, but with throw-overs, most of th weight is on the straps. I also reckon they'd probably break in a fall, but if they do I'll just buy a bit more rod and start again. Ideally I'd like something more solid, welded etc, but that's c cost more and I couldn't do it myself and I think these will work just fine for the job.

Oh, and I didn't post this photo as the uploads were taking to long, it shows how I used a socket set to get the nyloc nut inside the rubber tubing, which I think helps to finish it off (enough to convince people that it's steel tube, until they grab hold of it).

I think I might be another pinching this idea....been looking for something to keep soft bags off the exhaust. Thank you, M.Freeloadeur.

Been contemplating how to extend the tiny rack on the CCM to make the load more stable (it currently wants to flop to the side as the rack is too narrow, you have given me an idea!)

Meanwhile this looks just the right answer for the Beta Alp that I've just bought for Mrs Spanish Biker. Then we can make off into the Pyrenees for some wild camping - if we can find a dog-sitter; walkies anyone!
