ABR Ireland 8-10 May 2026 - Sign Up Thread

Post by Heff »

The 2026 ABR Ireland Rally will be held over the weekend of Friday 8th - 10th May.

This is a small regional event, for like minded folk, to meet over a beer, have a ride out, some food, more beer, then go home.

The selected date coincides with the same weekend as the NW200 main road races.

With the excellent feedback from members who attended our previous Ireland Rallies here in 2018 & 19, together with the superb reception from the site owner, we will again be revisiting;

The Shepherds Rest, Draperstown.

For your SatNav - the campsite address is; 220 Sixtowns Road, Draperstown, BT45 7BH.

This is an excellent biker friendly venue, located in the Sperrin Mountains. It has very modern facilities, washrooms, showers etc, and most importantly a bar on site. This campsite has featured in MCN as a must visit location for bikers ;)

From Dublin port, the distance to the campsite is around 125 miles / 2hrs 15min
From Belfast port the distance is around 50 miles / 1hr

Full details about the venue can be found below. (Ignore the No Food Served comments, as this is an event)

https://shepherdsrestpub.com

Camping fees will be discounted to £15pp for the weekend. The normal camping rate is £10 pppn. :)
If you are camping with us, you DO NOT need to book individually, just register here.
Your camp fees will be collected on site by the host sometime after your arrival.

I know a few local members have mentioned that they may bring their campervan, so if you are attending with a camper, you need to book this in yourself by contacting the site. Tel 028 7962 8517 - ask for Colin.
There are a limited number of hard stands available. Mention ABR when booking for your discount. Weekend rate is £30, normally £25 per night

If you prefer a proper bed, there are some excellent B&Bs not too far away, or maybe an Air B&B if in a group.

Food on the Friday night has been arranged from the bar, eg Chicken Gougans & Chips in a basket etc at £8, to be washed down with several pints of their excellent Guinness. 8-)

As breakfasts are not available on site, a suitable venue has been factored into the early part of the Saturday Ride-Out, this means its a self catering breakfast on Sunday morning if camping.

Saturday morning you can go exploring with me around Co. Donegal and surrounding area and including a few 'Boreens' - (Irish Green lanes and tracks.) You can also find several routes on the Shepherds Rest website if you want to do your own thing. The Wild Atlantic Way is within easy reach.

Please be mindful if you are bringing a pillion, some of the anticipated route may include some 'boreens' off tarmac and may not be passenger friendly.

Also, please ensure when you arrive at the campsite on Friday evening, your bike has sufficient fuel, this is to minimise disruption on Saturday morning as it will be around a hours ride before the breakfast stop (At this time anyway) :!:

The pub landlord has again agreed to provide a sit down meal in the function room upstairs on our return on Saturday evening at £22pp.
Choice of stuffed chicken or salmon, with vegetables and chips, a selection of homemade desserts with tea/coffee. For the vegetarians 2x large vegetarian vol-au-vents, coleslaw, salad, or goats cheese an beetroot salad. Excellent value in my book. ;)

Can you let me know when registering on this thread, or by PM, your choice of main course to ensure sufficient quantities are available.

Hopefully the pub may have some traditional Irish music on Sat but this is not guaranteed.

This thread will be updated as and when new information/details are confirmed.

There is no restriction on number attending as long as you register here on this thread and if you are joining us for food, your choice of main course, so 'GET YER NAME DOWN'. :D

Looking forward to meeting friends new and old.

See you there.

Alex
