Great to hear you have enjoyed your sporting and group experiences ... you have achieved much more than you have imagined.

Low miles with interesting stops during the day.

Having not totally enjoyed group riding in the Canaries in January as I like to bimble and go off course, I’m pondering slinging the bike in a van, basing myself in one suitable place and having days out.
After our holiday, Cumbria and/or Yorkshire are favourite at the moment but, for me, they are still a bit of a haul from the Sussex coast.

Our honeymoon back in 1977 was camping on our Bonneville chuntering down the Rhine with my best man and his girlfriend! But, by the mid 80’s, our bike touring and camping days were superceded by comfort.

We’ll have to see how my recovery goes and my wife will be watching me like a hawk as I’m prone to trying to do too much.

I don’t have even a scrap of Erikgustav’s resilience or commitment.
The seasons of the year change as do our own seasons. Over the last 16 years we have done most of my 'must do' list but now the GS is on an optimate in the garage and declared Sorn waiting for me to decide if I really need to do the last remaining trip on the list because the want and motivation aren't at the top of my priority list. Smaller bikes in the back of the van for UK holidays and fly/rent for other areas to explore is the foreseeable future. Strangely I find myself at peace with the 'comfortable' option and have no need or want to beat myself up about it 😉. The main thing is we love riding a bike 😎.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

Having got just the one bike, I go along with everything you say except the SORN bit.
Anytime it is dry, salt free and tolerable weather, even getting out for an hour is mega therapy.
2022 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro sadly gone due to ill health.
Now on a 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X but may be fitter next year.

Being skingy.. or rather, grouping my very limited oap resources, .. I sorned my little old Fiesta car for nearly a year, thinking to save money on the insurance as well as the tax, but keeping the insurances on my bikes.

When I came to insure my car again, the astards charged me £33 a month .. probably because it was out of sequence in the year, and because they could.

This year it was in line with renewal.. and early quotes .. £20.

So, if u think you saving .. they got u all ways.
