Adventure Spec Gravel jacket
1500 miles.
My old Klim Badlands jacket is very much showing its age so I decided to get another jacket keeping the Badlands as a winter green lane coat. After looking at the alternatives I went for the Adventure Spec Gravel Jacket.
First impressions were good. Robust construction, a good fit and comfortable to wear. I'm only 5'6" and I generally end up sitting on the tail pack pocket so, for me, they're a waste of time. However, this coat is a little shorter than most so I may actually use it. Although tall riders might find the jacket a little short perhaps. The armour is comfortable and the whole jacket is unnoticeable, which is how it should be. I haven't tested its waterproof ability but the fabric, zips, cuffs seams etc look like it should be fine. Like the Badlands there is no thermal liner. Both (but separately) my old Rab Nutrino winter coat and Gerbring heated jackets fit underneath comfortably.
If I have a criticism it's that the chest pockets could do with being a bit larger. I can't quite fit my phone in either. It will fit in the front lower pockets though.
I’ve now ridden in temperatures up to the mid 20’s and, as yet, haven’t needed to open up any of the vents. However, they look well placed and I expect that they will help create a reasonable airflow in warmer temperatures. On the promotional photos the jacket looks to be grey but, to my eye, there’s a definite olive green tint to it.
I’ll admit to having a liking for most of the Adventure Spec clothing. My Linesman jacket and trousers are well worn and used regularly. However, I’ve no personal link with the company.
Off to, probably, Croatia and Slovakia in a week or so. I’ll add an update after the trip.
1500 miles of use and I'm sure I made the right choice.

Any longer term feedback?

Must admit I haven't worn it much recently until yesterday when it was a bit cooler. However, I did wear it on my meandering trip to Croatia and back. It did the job. Rain kept at bay, only rode in the high 20's but the vents did their job, the ones in the forearms working better than I expected. After 5000+ miles it's still quite stiff but I see that as a good sign for the future. I still think that the chest pockets are too small.
Yesterday I used it for the first time on an unfaired bike, my 1956 Matchless G80, some rain and a moderate wind. No issues. It's a good jacket. Good value in my opinion. 6'3" riders might need to check that it's long enough but the length is perfect for me.
