Best 125 trail bike for £2000

Young lad I know is looking for one...any suggestions?

XL125s go for that kind of money but are few and far between.

What's the best/least bad Chinese bike for that kind of money?

XR125L, nice low seat height, good for easy to medium trails. Load it up with gear and it’ll take you miles

I agree, XR125L is a great bike. My first trail bike was a 2000 DR125 and that was also really good but finding one these days that hasn't been ragged by 20 different people is unlikely...

He'd love one of those (he learned to ride a motorbike on my 300 Beta), but not learner-legal, and cost more then £2k!


Anyhow, after me telling him to research insurance, he's found out it will cost him C £2k a year to insure a £2k bike! He lives in outer London, but still pretty steep IMV.

Considering the high price for learner Insurance in the big cities I've often wondered how the Arsecakes riding around on L Plates delivering food manage to afford the undoubtedly even more expensive Business insurance needed to be legal?

I don't expect they. bother.

I can't understand how/why riding on L plates for hire & reward is allowed.

An increasing number ride illegal electric bikes, also.

Yep they ride past coppers all the time on illegal electric bikes and they dont bat an eyelid, Plod just seem ignorant of all but the most publicised of laws and even then barely enforce them

Nah, I see they also walk past the same ones when they park up in groups waiting for a text to go to the next job, its blatant the deliveroos dont hide and have regular spots they wait at.
Plod are scared of them not because of any repercussions after the fact but simply scared to tackle anyone unless they have at least a 3 to one advantage or a huge lump of metal they can ram you with, then they suddenly become brave defenders of the law

As for the Gross Misconduct Notice in your link, I suspect in this case as in many others it wont result in Punitive measures, if found guilt the result can be as little as a written warning.
They just want to calm down the community basically cowing to mob rule, another problem with the unprofessional behaviour of our Law enforcement, which in the end is partly a reflection of the society it exists in.

I trust no outcome that has had the involvement of the incorrectly named Independent Office of Police Conduct
