Well the morning commute didn't go quite to plan. I was lucky and managed to stay upright, but got bounced off a car into a wall whilst travelling along a dual carriageway. People obviously no longer actually look in their mirrors. So if anyone wants some gear recommendations, I have the following:
Gaerne GX-1 boots
Acerbis Knee/shin protectors
Klim dakar trousers
Knox Urbane pro jacket
RST TraTech EVO 4 gloves
allowed me to walk away with just some aches and bruises.
being cheesegrated along a wall whilst being squashed by a car and having window glass explode over you is not fun....
Hospital has been visited..

Re: The reason you wear proper clothing
A good point well made.
Even if you were not injured, you need to bang in a claim against the 3rd party for a new set of kit.
Hope the aches are over soon.

Re: The reason you wear proper clothing
Unfortunately to get proper compensation nowadays you have to claim for 'injuries'. Insurance will only give you the perceived value of bike if they think its a write off. Also start asking for receipts for clothing etc and any accessories/ad-ons etc.
If I hadn't claimed for injuries I'd have been well outbof pocket as bike and gear was old
