Edinburgh/Derbyshire Daylight Trial

Post by Richard Simpson Mark II »

Anyone from here doing/marshalling this event next Saturday?

I'm riding in the Daylight trial number 325 on my Beta X-Trainer.

I'll try to come back with a funny report...meanwhile, if you are in the area you can see if I screw it up on Corkscrew or stack it on Litton Slack.

Recommended spectator points are at the Duke of York pub in Pomeroy (A515 south of Buxton), where you can see me do what I do best (eat breakfast), Booth Farm (A53 south of Buxton), and Litton Slack (east of Litton Village) where the marshals apparently have a special award for the most determined (but not necessarily successful) attempt at the hill.

Greetings Richard,

I shall be Observing on Excelsior, Hartington, so I will look out for you.

Derbyshire will be slippy if the expected rain arrives so good tyres are essential. Good luck.

TTFN

Hugh.

Thanks Hugh,

I found a new Pampera gearbox sprocket while sorting stuff out the other day.
If I find it again (!), I'll bring it up for you.
Will call you soon about the caravan

All the best

Richard

Did it!

Cleaned every daylight section until Corkscrew (but I think I may have taken the wrong route on one of the Clough sections).

THEN IT RAINED!

Stopped twice on Corkscrew, which should have been named Waterfall, and spun to a halt a bike's length from level terrain on Litton Slack (which ought to be called the swamp on a slope).

Final section cancelled.

I'll try and compose a coherent report soon, but I've got a bin bag of soaking riding gear, two filthy mountain bikes, and a Beta X-trainer to deal with first.
