What type of panniers do you have fitted? Are they Givi ones?
Looks a lovely set up

Yeh, I’ve got some old 30 something litre ones that open out, which is a bit of a pain when all your stuff goes all over the floor every time you need something

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
I have just returned to Portugal. I plan to test the Benelli TRK251 as a touring bike. It has Shad plastic panniers. SH 23 that opens to top. They are fine but....
But I will try a complete set of alu panniers and alu top box,
The panniers are 28 liters each. Not so much more then 23. (My DL 650 has one 37 liter and one 45 liter)
But the alu panniers are square shaped, with fasteners. So it is easy to put drybags on top of the panniers. A 20 liters Lomo bag on each side is the plan
For light stuff as tent and sleeping bag.
I will report the outcome.
I want to bring camping equipment, and a gas stove for preparing coffee. And some soup and pasta as back up. No full kitchen equipment.
To be continued,,,,

I edited to correct the information

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
In 2019 I tried DL 250, DL 650 XT and the DL 1000 back to back.
My personal views was rhat the -1000 was to big. Not a candidate for me,
The DL 650 had SW Motech rack and panniers alreay monted.
I could not at that point found a lugage rack for the 250.
That I did not found one does not mean that it did not existed or exisis today,
And that you could fabricate something yourself.
But the DL 650 was the XT version. With SW Moutech rack monted. Inkluding two alu panniers. 37 Plus 45 liters. The bike had been used 3 000 km. 3 years old. At a very good price.
Now it has 40 000 km on it. No issues at all. It does not qualify as a small bike.
But the DL 250 was a great contender.
As far I can see, the 250 was only imported one year to Sweden.
Lowely bike.

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
Erik if you are doing trips like Sweden to Portugal with camping gear, I think the 650 is a better choice,
the 250 would do it but if you are a heavy guy like me and you load it up with lots of gear it does knock the performance esp on overtakes.
Look forward to hearing about the new Benelli project

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
Yes I am very happy with thbDL 650 XT.
My ideas with the Benelli 250 are mainly backroads in Portugal, and mountains.
Pyrenees, Picos Apls
The DL stays in Sweden. And the Benelli lives in Portugal.
The main alternative to the Benelli was the Himalayan.
I also looked at Zontes.
I will give it a try and see how I like it.
