From Stockholm to Malmö...
E4 is fastest but boring.
This route is still main roads, but more scenic

Wow, thanks for that, that looks amazing and I didn’t realise how many small islands there were between the two….. maybe if I get enough run up I could do without the ferries tooErikGustav2 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 8:21 pmLooks as you are short on time.Godspeed wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 2:11 pm All change here.
Started getting itchy feet about heading back into the NHS but in a different role so quit my job as a repair specialist and just found a job as a Discharge coordinator…… I’m desperately hoping that I’m coordinating patients discharges, instead of coordinating discharge from patients
But that gives me a few weeks before I start so I’ve booked a crossing to Calais and planning to ride up to Helsinki via Poland, Lithuania and Latvia then a ferry to Stockholm, a couple of days back down to Malmo then back through Germany. I’ve only got 18 days so it’s going to be pretty snug so I’ll have to break out the big guns for this one. It’ll be the PCX125 and travelling light…
Heading off on the 31st July so will keep you updated
But I would like to mention the option to continue from Helsinki to Åbo/Turku. And use local archipelago ferries to jump between islands to Sweden. Two days Turku-Stockholm. It is a special experience.
Blue and yellow lines on the map. All nice but blue is recommended.
Sleeping betweeb Åva and Torsholma, you can reach Stockholm next day.

And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
4 days in and I’ve made it to Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Covered 1011 miles in the last 4 days. Today was an epic 315 miles from Germany and tomorrow takes me up to the border of Lithuania, another 250 miles but then it starts getting slightly easier each day.
Weather has been a bit brutal but the pcx has handled both the roads and wind/rain well.

How's the trip ? Weather could be really bad in places. Flooded cities, strong winds, weather alerts etc... Safe journey !!!

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
Thanks both.
Yeh weather was pretty rubbish for the first part of the trip but I’ve had a couple of mainly dry days and have made it up through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and am currently sat in Tallinn in Estonia.
1735 miles in 7 days, not too shabby on a 125
Tomorrow I catch the ferry across to Helsinki and have a couple of days with minimal riding. Rest the bike and my arse
Both Riga and Tallinn have been great cities to visit though the riding I found a little bit boring over the past few days…Everything is soooo flat, and when I say flat they had a warning sign up because it was a 6% gradient… I’ve got more than that coming out my driveway
The forests have been lovely though, fragrant and plentiful, and it was nice riding up the Baltic coast road.

Re: Go Big and Ride Small
Cheap hotels, cause of the mileage I wanted to keep the weight down so avoided camping gear. Glad I did or else I’d have to take swimming gear too
