Yep. a slightly used nearly new, cb500x, I’ve had 2 & wondered why I sold em, I’m on the lookout for a bike now (again!!) & it would’ve been a cb500x which has just been updated but deliveries seem to be 2-3 months from now?
***just like Britney Spears oops I did it again……sold the Scrambler & as of now there may not be a replacement***

Re: What would you buy for £5000
I got my Vstrom 650xt for 6250 1500 ish miles on the clock on a 2020 plate so more than doable to get a post 2017 for 5-6k I reckon I did a 600 mile day up to and around Scotland on mine some vids of it in the ride report section where I talk about pros n cons from a road perspective.
Having said that Im currently looking at a 300 Rally for some trips I'm planning everything is a compromise and it's just about finding the right one that fits your needs doing a pros n cons list is always a good way to go n write out what you mainly need from the bike. That's what I've just done between 7 options n the Rally came out on top. If you are not going off road though can't go wrong with a vstrom be interesting to see what others reckon.

Versys 650. Short, slim, fairly light, decent ground clearance, easily offroad modded. Between 200 and 250 miles range.

A Couples of miles up to 100miles a day.
Lunch and a few work clothes and boots.
Long days out and hopefully overnight camping trips.
Spannering is good.
Very happy with something older I’m not looking for something new.
This is the current bike

Yep a cb500x is a good shout, perhaps not quite suited for offroad enough with speeding more on it but the rallyraid upgrades look goodlancashirelad wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 12:12 pm Yep. a slightly used nearly new, cb500x, I’ve had 2 & wondered why I sold em, I’m on the lookout for a bike now (again!!) & it would’ve been a cb500x which has just been updated but deliveries seem to be 2-3 months from now?

390 adventure? Never ridden one personally but interested in this thread as I have similar needs. Been looking at
Himalayans - seem to be quite problematic and maybe too underpowered.?
Cb500x - I think would be great for the commute and roads but not very good for any real off road unless you spend a fortune on the rally raid kit ?
Tenere 700, good all rounder but big and top heavy and way over budget.
Dr,drzs , getting old and tired now.
KTM 690/husky would be nice but again way over budget for a newish low miler.
That leaves CRFs which are currently like rocking horse shit , or the KTM 390
Not a lot of choice is there really.

Re: What would you buy for £5000
Pound for pound the 204kg Tenere 700 is a far better bike than a 200kg CB500x or a 191kg HimalayanLexinoo wrote:390 adventure? Never ridden one personally but interested in this thread as I have similar needs. Been looking at

It’s not top heavy either
