Thank you Chris for making this available. I have just read the first two chapters and have come to the conclusion that I must be the same age as you as I am laughing at all the references and going 'oh yeah'

Merci beaucoup very good of you, a mate done a bit and a subject I find interesting.
Re: Street Riding Years - free download
Thanks Chris, look forward to reading that.
I was late to the despatching game, didn't start until 1990 so missed those 'golden' early years but started on bikes in 1980 so there's going to be a lot of nostalgia in there......and suddenly feeling rather old

I must be about the same age as you, Chris.
Left school in 78, and got a job at Three Cross Motorcycles, which at the time was based in the garage at Three Legged Cross in Dorset.
Had to laugh at the KH250 riders having three cylinders and six brain cells...there was one who spent every Saturday riding his Kawasaki around the one-way system in Blandford. Meanwhile, a short distance away, were some amazing roads through some of the world's best landscapes.

I actually tracked down the bloke who wrote that iconic '6-brain-cell' letter to Bike mag.
Unfortunately, he 'wasn't in a good place' at the time, so that was that.
Let's fast forward a couple of years to 1980: great music, great films and some great bikes.
Irrc, the best year ever for new bike sales in the UK. Even I bought a new IT250G from Meeten & Ward.
