But I just want to go out and get muddy :(

Anything goes, and mine's a Guinness.

Thank you !
I was very cautious at first, but obviously got less cautious later on :) but managed to survive when my enthusiasm overcame my talent
Hopefully all of us survived unscathed by the CV too.
I was going to ask which bike _you_ were... but then realised you'd prob say 'the ktm 690' ;)
I was on the 790 :D

If you go on Bing maps , one of the options is O/S maps so you can search out the little crosses (boats) and dotted routes (UCR's) in the areas around you. Whilst I'm fully aware that everything is in flux, for the future: Again 'Mid wales' is a huge area so I have no idea where you are, but there is a TRf group that meets in Rhayader and one that meets in Carmarthen. There is ( was) an event called the 'Hafren Hunt' being organised in September by Mid Wales TRF always a good way to meet people.
I had prostate cancer a few years back and doing OK . Try a search on 'Prostate' on the forum, should take you to some posts. If you want to send me a private message feel free to do so. Best Wishes.
I know the Nant Yr Arian / Nant Y Moch area well as we've mtb-ed there for many years. Never been on a bike there though... but one year we witnessed something I'll never forget - a group of trail bikes came towards us, slowly, and we realised one was being towed - an airhead bm, and as it went past I saw that the sump was also now air-cooled
Now I live near enough I def want to ride round there, but with the above lesson in mind... not by myself ;)

I also really really (really) want to ride the trails that go to/from Strata Florida - being up in the mountains in that kind of terrain is def on my bucket list... which has gotten a bit more emosh recently ! Hence the lust for an enduro bike, as I think that might be fractionally easier than a big gs :)

Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff... uck. Bye bye summer.
I finally got my bone scan results, by phone, and they are nice and clear... but the hospital is not doing any surgery at the moment, even though normally I'd be an urgent case.
So I'll now be stewing until the hospitals feel that the crisis is over, and then I'll be out of action for another 6 weeks.

Plans !
2 plans !
A non-surgery treatment plan which means that I'm _not_ going to be unable to lift a full kettle for 6 weeks,
and a look-for-a-good-bike-deal plan so I can get dirty on a regular basis once we are allowed out (hopefully june/july ?).

The downside of the treatment plan is that I'm going to have to get my finger out asap and go out running so I'm fit enough to withstand the 'therapy'. The upside of it is that I'll have to travel (RIDE !) in to Hereford every weekday for radiotherapy for about 6 weeks :) (Lots of little roads between me (near Erwood) and Hereford... so I may need suggestions on different routes so I dont wear out the tarmac :)

The bike plan also needs some suggestions, as I was told that I should wait for June-ish when the new models are due out and dealers want/need to move some stock. I've emailed the nearest (MarshMX at Merthyr) but obviously I dont _really_ care where it comes from so long as its a cracking deal eg something around 7k5 for a new fe350 or excf 6days :) Suggestions on strategy will be gratefully received.
