OK, looking at flying from Manchester to Munich in August , hiring suitable bikes then hopefully touring the alps and riding all the best passes and seeing the best scenery we can in our time limit, hire bikes Monday 11:00am to Friday 13:00. We have a limit of 1500km for bike hire purposes. Does anyone have a gpx route they have done I could have a look at, currently doing the route on Google maps and view ranger as my garmin is broke. Also trying to keep the cost down. Will have to be all tarmac, bikes are probably going to be honda cb650 / yamaha f8 type bikes.
Cheers Andy.

Sure to be more expert Alp peeps on here than me, but there is such a thing as the Route des Grande Alpes if its good I dont know, from a cost point of view reduce your money spending in Switzerland as much as possible and definitely do not get caught speeding there. Visit the land of cuckoo clocks but dont wake up under one or eat too much near one either. Sans Plomb 95 weirdly cheap there though, well used to be anyway.

Due to your mileage and time restrictions I don’t think Les Grande Routes des Alpes is really an option. Assuming you’re starting and finishing in Munich, then I suggest the Deutsche Alpenstrasse, with a spin around the Rossfeldstrasse and a visit to the Eagles Nest.

Yes the time and mileage arnt great but thats to keep the costs down, £90 flights, £258 min bike hire, £300 min hotels, obviously fuel and food extra, as long as we see the best bits and enjoy ourselves that should be enough, I have plans to go back at a later date to do as much off road as possible the old salt road etc. I'm happy to miss out Switzerland side and concentrate on other options . As said just planning a good short break in some wonderful scenery.
Thanks for the info Andy.

Haven't thought about one way travel, the general consensus was to do a loop, could have a look into it.

We are doing the adventure bike rider top 10 passes minus and adding a couple, due to time and milage.

Perhaps invest in a book .... Motorcycle Journeys Through The Alps & Beyond
Author - John Hermann
About 20 Quid on Amazon ...
Otherwise get Google maps running and just look for the wiggly lines!!!
Ride safe & Enjoy (but mind the speed cameras!!)
