Re: Chinese bikes?
I've been riding the Benelli TRK502 X recently and it's a cracking bike. Okay, it's technically Italian designed but it's completely Chinese made. The problem the Chinese have is that they all hide behind the names given to them by western importers. To me they need to start building their own brand, and dealerships.

Re: Chinese bikes?
There's a company called CFmoto
https://www.topspeed.com/motorcycles/mo ... ex866.html
which claims to make 50,000 bikes for KTM a year. Plus, the small KTMs are made in India.
I understand they may revive the old 950/990 engine at some point!
I think most of the non flat-twin BMWs are made in China or India.
Fantic, SWM, Mash etc all use a lot of Chinese engines.

Re: Chinese bikes?
A lot of Chinese manufacturing works on the basis that they know how to build stuff cheaply and in big quantities, but don't understand style, marketing or sales in a 'western' way. Hence they will build to order and let others stick their badges on. They don't really understand why we buy what we do. For instance...why we would want a motorcycle the price of a car?nathanm wrote: โSun Mar 01, 2020 7:58 am I've been riding the Benelli TRK502 X recently and it's a cracking bike. Go back to the 1960s, and the US importer of Nissan/Datsun couldn't make the Japanese company understand why he wanted so many pick-up trucks and so few cars...America was a rich market, the Japanese thought, so who would want to buy a utilitarian vehicle when they could have a car. They didn't grasp that most of the households buying Nissan pick-up trucks already had cars.

Re: Chinese bikes?
I've had a few Chinese bikes over the last five years, I've not had any problems with them....
The only thing I have found is the chain and sprocket is usually worth upgrading to a better one, once the original has worn out .... I've ridden the new Benneli TRK 502 last year at the ABR festival it was a great bike , very easy to ride....
Also cfmoto have some great big bikes out aswell..
I've owned a few 125 Lexmoto adrenaline which I'm a big fan of.... Also had a 250cc Pulse Adrenaline which again was a great bike .....
All in all my personal opinion is there good value for money and have come on a long way ...
What bike were you thinking of getting????

Re: Chinese bikes?
what bike?? .. not sure really .. the Sinnis seemed to have good opinions, and I see a lot of Mash bikes for sale, and Stomp etc etc
most were very cheap, so I assumed `crap`, then lately I see lately a lot of Chinese bikes going for over ยฃ1000 0r ยฃ2000, so was thinking they must be good bikes .. or overoptimistic sellers????
I really don't know .. and was wondering if they are worth buying .. in my case, for a cheap small trail bike??? .. until I can afford a real good quality lightweight trail/enduro type bike (by the time I am 90 )
