Perhaps we could just have a cardiac club? I had a stent fitted a couple of years ago. Totally unexpected, keep myself fit, not overweight, not stressed, don't smoke, don't drink too much. Not even a poor family history. Just got to get on with it. You'll be fine. Rehab classes were fun too.

No worries at all. Like I say give me a shout but I’m sure they’ll look after you. Where are you if you don’t mind me asking?

Also, one major thing to note is that for the first short while, don’t lift the arm on the side of the pacemaker implant above your shoulder height. The lead tips take a while to settle into the heart tissue so you don’t want them to move and have to have the implant redone.

There are various manufacturers of pacemakers and so battery life can be anywhere from 6 to 15 years. 8 is always a good bet.

Sounds like you have the right Positive Mental Attitude to deal with this.

A pal of mine has an ICD fitted and he does many of the crazy things on two wheels that I do, so you'll be fine

Listen to the experts (Godspeed for one), take your time getting back on the bike (you'll be barred from driving & riding for a short while after the op anyway) and keep the PMA.

Wishing you the very best for future health. Life was never meant to be easy, at least it's all electric. They say the new pacemakers will be hybrids, powered by a 1litre ford eco boost motor ! So better to have it done now, and avoid all that extra weight ?
