I wasn't there very long , but I loved Norway. Some things are eye wateringly expensive, some stuff the same price as the UK ( avacado anyone).
Beware of speed cameras though, I took a taxi out in the sticks and the bloke was telling me it was a £6-700 fine for 13mph ( 20kph) over the limit .
Ok, I was mainly in Oslo but just about everyone I met speaks lovely English. And then of course they all like ' the Brits' because of 39-45.

I done Newcastle to Ijmuiden, cuts most of England out. We took the Øresund via Sweden, but I think you'll be quicker on the ferry from the north of Denmark to Norway.
If you like you can read about my trip on the link below.

Which one? Newcastle to IJmuiden (near Amsterdam) still runs, as does Hirtshals Denmark to Kristiansand Norway.

It’s the Newcastle - Norway ferry which stopped a few years ago.

But is that not the freight service that’s quite expensive and you’re unlikely to get on the crossing you booked? I remember looking into that crossing for my trip, but having researched it and reading about others who’d booked crossings but got bumped last minute due to the freight taking priority, I discounted it.

There is a really nice campsite in Hirsthals to either begin or end your trip in Scandinavia, just outside the ferry port.
