best alp?

what do people consider to be the best beta alp .. the 200 or the 350 ??

I had the DR350 and loved the engine .. great torque
but, tho light at 133kg, the alp4 is heavier than the
200 at 108kg.

. I once tried the 200 and it seemed more manoeuvrable/useable on tech stuff,
and has a kickstart as well as elec start and possibly a lower seat that can also convert.
. the 350 has more guts and probably better on the road/long distance?

people's opinions and experiences???????
or alternatives?

something light weight, torquey, and low seat.
o .. and quiet, probably 4T?

The 200 is small and light, go for that, just don't expect to be able to do 70mph on the road.....

I have 2002 alp 200 it is very light and very nimble on the tight trail’s. The suspension is a bit hard for any flowing tracks and it will just about reach 55mph.

I also have a 1993 Serow the twin disc model with the remote adjustable suspension, it`s not much heavier than the Alp, it is not as nimble as the turning circle is not as tight but the suspension is much better and can be ridden a lot quicker than the Alp

Hmmm .. its always been the suspension that's put me off the alp .. especially the 200 as it looks so weedy .. I saw an ad somewhere that showed a 48mm dia front fork setup .. upside down too .. ???

I think they've finally stopped making it now but I recently bought a new Alp 4.0 which replaced a CRF250 Rally. Not as polished as the Honda but has more grunt, and I find it better off-road whilst is still has a manageable seat height. A bit hefty but it's a big, old lump in that frame.

It's fun and useable on the road, and has long service intervals. All very old school but the DR350 engine is great and just like the trail bikes I grew up with years ago, rather than the current crop of lofty models which are just all too tall and quick for me.

I think I know what you mean, chipy … I tried a mates 200 and found it a bit skittish.. not as planted as the dr 350 I had at the time, which had a terrific engine and could mud plug all day, as was sticky-great on slippy rock climbs

thanks for that, Richard …. the 80kg weight is phenomenal !!
looked at the spec before, and was impressed
(..tho air-cooled, low tech is also appealing)
but I like the fuel injection idea on the 4-ride
The ktm FreeRide also is a worthy consideration
