Jeez! How many twin front wheel trikes did you see out there today if you were in Quebec province?
I first saw a tasty Can Am one in NZ and another a few days later.
Never seen one in the UK and we had seen two or three in Canada up to yesterday but we must have seen 60+ today on our 500km drive, either singly or in gaggles of bikes and trikes of both persuasions. Saturday must be their ride out day.
Trouble is, most of them are three wheel cruisers, not rorty sporty trikes.
But it’s embarrassing having to overtake bikes on a beautiful weekend day in our klanky SUV. My god they ride so slowly, even in aggressive Quebec.

Rawdon to La Pocatière was a ride mainly on a motorway. The first 30 miles was single carriage through sprawling farmland though so not all just doing the miles riding.
But most of it was. Another day of a petrol station sandwich to share and then a subway offering between us later in the day.
It may be our imagination but the food offerings in these establishments seem better than we’ve had for a while. It could, of course, that even the truly dreadful is now accepted as perfectly acceptable.
Keeping in with the motorway riding theme on Saturday the 21st we headed to Plaster Rock. Nothing much happened on the way which sometimes is exactly as you want it.
Nothing exciting but nothing negative. No punctures or anything like that. Just a few more miles closer to Halifax.
The motel was a damp, over priced and under cleaned kind of a place with beds that sank so low in the middle you needed a rope to pull yourself back to the edge.
I exaggerate of course..... but not by much
In the plus side there were tea bags and a proper kettle so we still managed to and the day as....
Two happy people, two happy bikes.

There was a sense of humour failure on my part in the Sunday morning. Something to do with toilet paper or the lack there of.
Tantrum over we set off again. This time motorways were not the order of the day. The route we took was a fairly bumpy single lane road through the forest. The traffic was pretty much non existent so we trundled along at our normal speed enjoying the blue skies above and trying to dodge the potholes.
Destination Sackville. Another 200 miles done and only the last 10 on a motorway. A clean room and a disappointing dinner in a diner. Still, the bikes were still there this morning so we packed up and headed a bit further east.
East towards Halifax, eastwards and 143 road miles, 143 windy road miles to Halifax Harbour......and a lobster lunch.
We made it. From Houston Texas to Homer Alaska to Halifax Nova Scotia. Google maps says that the airport that we started off from in Houston is only 2500 miles from here......we’ve done 17,075!!! And I thought that I was good at navigating???!!!
Today definitely counts as a day of...

We had some scallops too but they didn’t get the photo treatment.
We read weeks ago that Halifax is famous for Lobster so we thought it’d be the thing to do. Very enjoyable it was, but we won’t be rushing back there for another one.
So where next? We have booked flights from New York to London for about a months time. Although we’ve only just arrived in Halifax at a not quite as clean as you’d like Airbnb place, the map is already out. The washing machine is on as well, a slightly overdue load of clothes are on their way to smelling fresh again, and tea is being drunk.
The map and the plan. Back in to the US and zigzag our way through a few States that we’ve not been to and see the Fall in New England.
For now though we are going to have a couple of days of no riding.....I think.
Relax, have a look about and just be, that’s the order of the day, well, days.

The history of Halifax is interesting. I think it was an explosives ship that blew up in the harbour back in the 1800’s. Brain a bit vague on that one though.
Scallops for me. Decided in Niagara that I’m really not that bothered about lobster after three of four goes over the years.
Are you still doing the Cabot Trail? It should be nice and empty this time of year and great for bikes but, from memory, rubbish for finding food and drink.
Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg good spots. Mahone Bay a nice place....ospreys everywhere.
The backroads south of Lunenburg would be good on the bikes but a quick ferry ride needed.
We thought the Bay of Fundy was a bit oversold to be honest.
