alternatives seem to be a recluse clutch, extra friction disc, or stronger springs?
video shows replacing the friction discs with new, and putting in stronger springs ..
watched the video .. was wondering if, like the crf250L, replacing the small friction disc and judder disc (anti-vibe spring) with full size items would solve it, ?

Now that was an interesting read, pretty much summed up my issues seeing as I’ve replaced the springs already!

I love these technical brain teasers, so long as they are not on my bike I had enough of that following a faulty ignition switch scenario

I seem to recall Honda adding a 'rubber o ring' to separate their clutch plates and prevent drag.

Thanks for the help. So I have a new clutch pack at home soaking in oil. Now I have identified the failure two of the middle steels are convex hard to see in the photo but this must be the issue.

The next question is why??

The steels always warp when they get hot, they usually go blue or black too.

If you think that's bad you should see how bad speedway and grasstrack clutches get, they are open to the air, are large diameter and have 6 springs and they still slip and burn out leaving many of the steel plates dished like yours. I've had plates that were visibly dished by a couple of mm.

Overall if you've had clutch slip you need to be changing all the steels and measuring, but preferably changing, all the fibres.

Think I’ve come to the reason why they have warped

Went down to Phil’s this year wheee the clutch slave failed, we found a slave from an old blown up husky engine he had in his bike torture pit under the house.

This permanently disengaged the clutch so we have to fabricate a spacer froma bit of his checker plate. I bet it just engaged the clutch a little causing. It to overheat on the remaining 1000miles we rode!

ahhhhhh .. didnt know it had been bodged

I am finding more and more that bike operating systems .. eg clutch, lever, master-slave cylinder, plates, discs etc .. have to be exactly to spec, to avoid problems.

With mine, I oversized the rear tyre, which caused a constant drag on the friction plates due to the tyre rubbing.
In this case the rescue work caused incomplete disc-meeting causing constant slip.
or that the warping from this caused by overheating caused incomplete disc separation? causing wear when the handle bar lever is pulled? .. (me 'ed is startin to hurt)

It seems that a very good bodge, very useful for getting out of immediate trouble, needs to be put back to manufacturer's spec asap.
or at least the effects from the temporary bodge

Suffered from the brake pedal made of cheese this week

Just make out a crack after bending it back..

So pondered on whether to replace with the original or aftermarket, looked at rally raid, Vanasche and Rade garage.

Choose Rade because I have experience with them and they use the existing toe pedal.

So fitted it but I’d thought I’d leave some feed back for any on here

I like the part good finish fits nice, packaged nicely.

Bits that seem not so good,

The part has two stainless washers provided that Rade calls ‘spacers’ feels like a bodge! Why not machine a bit the right size rather than two washers as packing.

Also the part feels like it sticks out more than the OEM making me question whether it’s more vulnerable to crashes. I’ll certainly be carrying a spare toe round with me in case!

Over all for 130 euros (including postage) I feel happy with the purchase as it’s comparable to the others maybe slightly cheaper than Vanasche and Rallyraid. The two washers are really the only thing that lets it down.

Postage was good I purchased Sunday night and it arrived today. Not bad from Eastern Europe
