Really starting to look forward to this, the gs has it's TKC 80s on and felt good round the ABR festival course (at 25mph of course) pivot pegs are amazing, never had them before but wow, Mactavish- if you don't want the panniers let me know. The countdown is definitely on 😁
Hi Agg , if your not having them as you were in first and of course the shipping costs across that short piece of water can some times be silly . Seller has not been in touch yet .

Bike has just had head bearings fitted and head stock fitted with grease nipples .
Now to fit new cables and leave old one as spare.
Family over so won@t be this week !
count down definitely on ! !

Cheers Mactavish will let you know if he gets back to me. Question for Wibo or BobH- been looking at fuel carriers, will we need them? I remember last time I carried 10ltrs about for 10 days and didn't need it, but that was using Chris Scott's book. We was suprised how much fuel was available. Just bought a new tent for the trip, got 6 now

You shouldn't need fuel. We'll fill up before we hit the first piste and there's fuel en route.

My petrol stove has enough in it to last three nights wild camping. I bring two litres just to give out to the odd scooter rider in the middle of nowhere. Great way to interact with the locals.

First 3/4 of the route itinerary is updated on Page One of this invite. For information.

PS . If any one wants closer advice by all means ping Bob....we've ridden Maroc together and he knows nothing at all, as he's a blithering idiot.

As WIBO says we should not need extra fuel. Roughly 140 miles capacity in tank should get through all sections. After that in time we would be looking for a cuppa anyway. Plus the more times we stop at a Petrol station the more opportunity for a goofy spill.

Interesting point regarding tents. As I spend a lot of time under 'canvas' (walking, climbing, cycling, biking) I would suggest a self supporting tent such as geodesic if you have choice. If we have to camp in the middle of the desert/piste there may be limited options for tethering points in soft sand or on hard rock. You can overcome with rocks/sand anchor/heath robinson/nails but if you can limit the number of required pegging points it is better. We can occasionally get some heavy downpours and even thunderstorms. That os not to say you should go out and get a specific tent but if you have options, just something to consider.
