Re: Air Ambulance petition
Our TRF group has donated to both Yorkshire Air Ambulance and GNAA and we have club night talks from thembill_qaz wrote:Can I ask which ones you received that opinion from, it would be good to know as Hugh is trying to ask them.johnnyboxer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 7:05 am I will not sign it !!
As already said, Air Ambulances would prefer to stay independent and rely on charity
They don't want to be government funded.
Don't ruin what a great service we have
Think carefully before you sign
Look at the Government's administration of the NHS as a prime example
As with all petitions of course you should only sign if you agree, I imagine the lady who started the petition believes it's the right thing to do but each to their own.
They both said the last thing they wanted would government funded with all the strings and red tape that entails
We buy things we don't need
With money we don't have
To impress people we don't even like

Self-fulfilling prophecy. The Treasury loves charities - replacing what it should be funding itself.
Why do you think Thatcher loved Jimmy Saville so much?

See johnnyboxer’s post above.
I understand they don’t want to be government funded so why change a perfectly satisfactory situation into a potential financial and organisational mess?

Re: Air Ambulance petition
Interested to hear any response Hugh gets, though I appreciate those in the service may not want to air their opinions in public.
I can certainly understand a reluctance to depend on the Government for funding, yet would hope that if financial difficulties did arise they could be certain of receiving as comprehensive a bailout as the Wank... I mean Bankers did
....I wouldn't bet on it though

Makes complete sense and get the response from the horses mouth!Hugh wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 5:31 pm Greetings,
I should like to know what the opinion is of those who organise the various air ambulance charities. To this end I carried out a quick internet search and found the following link. Would anybody mind if I wrote to them to ask their opinion and sought a possible quotable reply?

Re: Air Ambulance petition
Greetings, I have spoken with folks and the Air Ambulance Groups are all slightly different from each other. As such there doesn't seem to be a single answer. We would have to contact each individual association for their opinion.
However, I got the underlying impression that they would like to retain their identity and remain independent.
My personal view is that the Government should crowd fund and match the monies raised to fund youth employment and help folks get off off the streets and into meaningful community employment.
